i am with FD (and am a big fan) but have to leave as becoming a premier customer with HSBC in order to take advantage of their lower rate on their lifetime tracker mortgage.
i would keep my account open with FD, except that i wont be able to continue to get my salary paid in to that account, and dont want to incur the monthly fee as a result.
does anyone think they would let me keep the account open anyway?
i have had the account for about 2 years.

Ouch SparciaM, that seems like a horrible experience. I hope it's not like that, but why on earth are HSBC using such an odd choice for delivery?
Can't see why they'd not let you keep the account open - if you want to not incur the fee, then apparently it's just a matter of opening a savings account and sticking a few quid in.0
