House Price Crash!

I can't keep up, first we're told we should be going on holidays, the next thing we're told it might not really classed be as a holiday.
Then we're told that it'll make us much more interesting people to talk too.....by a person who starts topics about Magnolia paint and shades thereof

Well, this is an interesting thread - very fiery. I know people get all hot under the collar about house prices, but to get overexcited about whether or not some people prefer holidays...?
I'm inclined to agree with the notion that experiencing different cultures and people is way more enjoyable than having a swanky place to live, but in the main, I just wanted to show off my new avatar. I've finally figured out how to upload one ;-)0 -
Here is a nice calming read for all the nay-sayers out there :- http://uk.biz.yahoo.com/moneyweekly/buyersareback.htmlThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0

I'm afraid I can't accept that on this thread. It is not one of the more independent sources like:

housepriceswilldrownatsomepointinthefuture.net
Get a grip... prices are just on the brink of doing something: I feel it in my bones.CarQuake / Ergo Digital0 -

Didn't you crack the same gag last week?
New comedy writers needed, I feel.
And like this whole subject, it's the same thing over and over again.
I find this comment interesting though: "The buy-to-let market bombed earlier this year so there were no investors to fill the gap left by first-time buyers."
Really? I don't remember these so-called experts telling us at the time.
Funny that. It's always "we've had a slump, but now everything is tickety-boo".
Dumb !!!!!! agents.
Oh, and by the way, I know this would take far too much effort on anyone's part, but if you actually read the report on which this article is based, you'll see that most surveyors are still reporting a FALL in prices. It's just that there's been a small decline in this number.
Not that I'm doubting the int cut helped support the market. That's undeniable. But as always the devil's in the detail.0 -
The ones I feel sorry for are those that bought within the last 2 years on IO.
Boy have they just thrown away their life bigstyle. You only get one life and they have just given it away free to the bank0 -

VESTED INTEREST DECLARATION: I'm renting and would like to buy at some point. (Hey why be secretive?)
Having said that though, a year ago I was so upset at having been 'left behind' that I was considering emigrating. Now I'm happy to wait it out. A study of the long history of booms followed by crashes shows that in the majority of cases the end of the bull run is marked by a wobble followed by a final rally before the real crash sets in. The stock market crash of 1987 was a classic example. Personally I think this recent upturn will be the last hurrah.
I base this assumption on having read the following tome:

Mate, you have 1700 posts on an internet forum about money. Now, you can't possibly suggest that all (or even most) of those push back the boundaries of interesting prose. In fact, having 1700 posts probably precludes you from making any disparaging comments about me!
Of course travel would make you a more interesting person - "travel broadens the mind" don't you know? That's not to say that you aren't an interesting person already, because I couldn't possibly know that, could I?
My disparaging comments about "2 weeks in Lanzarote" was merely an acknowledgment that some holidays can cost a lot of money and offer little additional benefit to the holiday in Scotland that was referred to in the post to which I was replying. I'm not saying that people shouldn't go on them, although I probably never would myself.0 -

"Done the Cape Verde Island's yet, darling?" - "Oh, yes a few years ago before they became too touristy" ... blah, blah!!
If I wasn't far too busy counting me bricks, a fortnight somewhere warm with good english food and beer would do my just fine, thank you.
Fair enough, if it makes you happy, that's fine by me.
By the way, don't have such an inferiority complex.0
