No, my OH is simply very impulsive and I made the thread out of frustration to show him money could be saved, but he changed his mind about 10 minutes later anyway. I suppose it is his car and his money, it's still frustrating!

    We feel your pain;) .
  • If anyone is interested in those 'webuyyourcar' places i had an Ok experiance with them. The site offered me £100, but when i got it to the place they offered me £50 very quickly, and pointed out the bits i had missed when i filled the form in which was fair enough. the car was going to run out of MOT that day and needed around £500 spending on it to get through the mot, and since i paid £450 for it 2 years before it wasn't going to happen.

I was very pleased with the £50 though, as i couldn't have got more than that unless i had broken it slowly on ebay for parts - but then still would of had to get rid of the final scrap, plus i have no drive so wasn't an option.

After that they showed me a few cars which they said they would give me £500 off (my old car would cover the deposit) but after seeing nothing below £2000 (I only spend £500 or less on cars) they were happy to give me my £50 and send me on my way no hassles at all.

If you are dead honest about the state of your car i think they will pretty much stick to their sites word about the cost - if not just drive away!

:rotfl:Not yet - he has progressed to insisting on working 6 days a week every week until the baby is born now. I am intending to compromise and say every fortnight is enough, I will never see him!

I am sure the car will come back round though.

Gulp! Wow really? I had left it late to get an mot, then it failed so i needed to be rid of it fast you see... i had called a couple of scrap yards, but there was little interest. For future ref, where would i go to see that sort of price. And yes, this was just a few months ago (29th Dec 07 - sob sob) - it was a lil metro, in vgc apart from some suspension stuff that sounded scary and was going to cost a lot.

    Cheers,
    L

Given that it was a Metro and so all the metallic content would have long ago turned to rust £50 wasn't so bad.;)
