Last night's "Troll" has a post count of over 160. Mostly in the mortgage forum. I read quite a few of those today and found them to be generally a bit curt but otherwise quite reasonable.
Last night, I could have posted. But it wouldn't have been clever and would have contained a lot of !!!!s. I'm glad I didn't.
The poster maintained that this is a public forum and they had a right to air their opinion. They were right to a point. But that misses the fact that this is actually a support network for those in deep trouble - or who have come through it and survived. In that context, we deserve a bit of space.
The vast majority of posters here know exactly how much trouble they are in. And get sleepless nights because of it. I don't suppose that any of us thought bankruptcy was an option - much less that it was likely - when they took on their mortgage, cards, loans etc.
For some of us, ending up here was enevitable. For the many more, like me, we are here because sh*t happens and it happened to us. Redundancy, moving for work and the collapse of house prices in my case.
To hope that last night's poster suffers a similar set of circumstances that leads them to post here in similar dire need is shallow and misses the point. But I must admit to the odd thought or two...
The fact is - we are a community like no other. And we will continue to weather the storm of fatuous posters because of that.BSC No 248

Hi Jim,
Great post & I would like to echo your sentiments. I did respond to the OP who basically asked if BR was too easy/easy way out etc, etc ( I think thats what he/she was getting at anyway).
I know that the thread has been removed but I do know that bankruptcy is not something entered into lightly & does not make us 2nd class citizens therefore if we feel that a reply is justified then I for one will always state my view on the OP`s opinion...whether critical or otherwise.
Always in life there will be critics & this forum is no different...sadly there are those few who feel we are `easy` targets.
Any newbies here know how bad their situation is & have probably suffered far worse from creditors anyway....they don`t need an ignorant troll to make them feel worse than they already do.
Bankruptcy is not easy & as we know ...the effects are as much emotional as they are financial & thats something that you have to experience to understand.

Hi Haleygrey
Troll posts are generally an attempt to upset or disrupt the board. A `devils advocate` post is OK but when it starts to become openly critical/abusive then it becomes disruptive.
On BR board there are some trolls that appear & feel that it is the easy option out of debt....(believe me if that was the case then the regulars would have no hesitation in stating that fact!!)
My personal thoughts are - If someone is truly insolvent then no amount of criticism will make any difference & I hope should make their resolve to sort their situation all the more stronger.
