dont understand what you mean by irish accent

As opposed to a south asian accent............presumably the 'customer retentions' department is based in ireland.......whereas the 'technical support' is somewhere in bangalore!

Got offered the £6.99 deal for upto 8mb internet+AOL talk+new router+12 month contract.
better from my current £9.99 for 0.5mb (what i get on speed test)+AOL talk.
the CS rep did mention that i probably would get only 2.5 to3mb on my line.----reasonable as my neighbours on O2 get only 3 mb.
Agreed to the deal but shall opt out if i do not get the promised speed in the 2 week opt out phase.

I've been on AOL (Carphone Warehouse now right?) for 5 years and the speed has been terrible. If I was bothered to change ISPs I would. Paying £9.99 unlimited for silver though. :/

this is why I don't understand what the 12.99 deal is they are offering. Have also been an AOL customer for more years than care to remember.
I was paying £17.99 for Silver package and had been with them for 4 years. Had months of problems with AOL and very tempted to move to SKY. Spoke to AOL and told them I was thinking of moving and could they offer me anything. I got my deal reduced to £9.99 per month plus a new router. Since then my problems with slow speeds has virtually disappeared. I'm very happy. Have never tried getting a reduction before but so glad I plucked up courage, if you don't ask you don't get.

Give them a call. My speed increased overnight. I was also on £9.99 silver now £6.99 and aol talk included and new router. You will have a new contract though.
