As a general rule, if the rods on your aerial are horizontal you are using a main transmitter and if they are vertical you are using a relay station.
All main transmitters are transmitting Freeview already, but the vast majority of relays won't be until the switchover date in their region.

Wherever possible they have arranged things so that you won't need a new aerial after swichover as long as your existing one is in good condition. You may need a wideband aerial if you want all the Freeview channels before switchover.
