Yay i've done my first proper visit MS today (as opposed to phone calls), I hope it gets easier to remember all the stuff you have to look for. By the time i'd read it all twice, printed it, made notes to impress it in my memory, driven there, done the shop, gone for a coffee to stop the nervy shakes afters, driven home and keyed it online i reckon i made about 50p!!!:rotfl:

Still maybe it will get easier with time...

bit concerned to read about some of the negative goings on though..thats just not cricket!

Yes, it does get easier but if you work for many companies the list of jobs is almost endless. Instructions can also change from month to month so you must not get complacent.

I avoid buying drinks and snacks when on mystery shops; if necessary, I take my own lunch and drinks.

Well done on your first proper MS pink68 :)

I'm still a newbie MS but already it is getting easier each time. The first is always the worst.........

Re Paul mentioning if you start working for different companies, what I've started doing is adding all necessary info for each company ie. when reports are due, if you have to go alone etc. and other requirements. It's a lot easier to do this when you're reading all the info and/or training material.

    Happy MSing :D

  • Hi everyone, I have been reading the excellent advice on this thread for 8/9 months, and signed up for a number of companies in December '07/January '08. I took early retirement last year, after 30+ years in my job (career) with the Cooncil and was looking for something to fill my time. I soon realised what everyone else was saying - MSing will not make you rich.

So far everything has gone OK with no major foul-ups.

However I would like a few points. My career was heavily involved with law enforcement and I have carried out '000s of routine and covert inspections of shops and businesses. So I had a very good idea what MSing would involve. But some companies are expecting MSers to memorise unreasonable amounts of details during visits. Also some of the scenarios are beyond laughable, e.g. diy stores.

After the initial rush of trying all types of jobs, unless the fee is reasonable, I now only accept jobs which fit in round my normal life. I accept I am in the fortunate position of not needing an income from MSing, but I use any money made to save up for "treats" - currently after a DeLonghi Bean-to-cup Coffee Machine £500+ - very extravagant.

Is there a problem with GFK tonight, ?

I need to get 2 reports uploaded (1 fairly long winded one that always takes an hour to do!) and a short one, but keep getting an error message. Is it just me or is it beggered!!

I'm getting that message too, but earlier on it did say that they would be doing some essential maintenance to the site.

I didn't pay much attention, but I think it said that it wouldn't be for too long, so have a cup of tea and come back to it
