The yanks probably think Scotland's one of the three villages near London.
My parents were talking to a nice American couple in Florida once - on realising my parents were English, they asked if we lived in London and if we knew some guy they did!
We of course all live in castles and the Queen runs the post office in the street next to mine, according to yanks! (Gotta love 'em!)0 -
The yanks think everyone lives in London, and if you dont speak like you are from London (the post accent that everyone has) then you are either Australian or Scottish.0

Thanks for the tips re keeping allocation emails (quickly goes into Trash to get them back out
)
I got my queries from Gyp following the pizza assignment I did but no mention of the waiting time surprisingly
I got my grade after my first Bare assessment - if I can only take the English Native Speaker test I can actually self-assign some jobs. Hallelujah!16 x Sanyo HIT 240w panels, 3.84kWp, south facing, 30 degree slope in the SW, 4.4 Eltek HE-t inverter installed 27/03/120 -

If you don't get paid (unlikely)
Have you kept the emails allocating you the jobs you have done? If so, you have the basis for chasing them for payments. Alternatively you can use your spreadsheet. Email suzan.izzet@gapbuster.com with a bill, as a first step.
WARNING TO ALL MSers.
KEEP your emails agreeing to allocate you work, and the emails acknowledging receipt of your work, until you have been paid. This applies to all companies - they all slip up sometimes!!!
Many thanks for this. Can you please let me know when payment is due so i can check with my bank.
Thanks0 -
I have applied for a Bare 'phone job but they have rejected me as they say English is not my native language, but it is and I cant find out how to contact them about this, can anyone point me in the right direction pls?
TIA:rolleyes:
E-mail the contact on the job and he will organise you to make a voice recording, just to prove your voice is understandable. It tkes about a minute to complete. I e-mailed him and had a response in about half an hour, so I think they must be desparate to get these jobs filled. It would be easier if they made this clear on the job form...:A Sealed Pot Challenge - number 263 :A0 -

We found that on holiday in Mexico. All the yanks assumed we lived in London and were shocked that I've only been there a couple of times because it's about 300 miles away!
The best one was a lady who lived in Washington DC and I commented that I grew up in Washington UK. She blethered on for ages about how nice it was that little old Britain named one of their towns after them. I said "well actually...." and gave her the full story of how Washington UK existed long before DC, and it was DC who took it's name from us. She a was a bit miffed by that :rotfl:
I've also had a couple of calls from mystery shopping companies asking me to shop in Ireland, and then are shocked when I've said County Durham isn't in Ireland
My boys break up from school today, and I've got them pestering me to come on jobs with me. They're 11 and 9, so sensible enough to behave. Does anyone else get "helpers" in the school holidays? Here I go again on my own....0 -
I havent dared accept any jobs over the summer holidays for fear the kids will blow my cover!
i know some jobs specifically say no kids but if they dont say it i presume it's ok is it?Credit Card debt £10247.17 1/1/20200 -
It's been covered before in the thread.
I wouldn't take my baby or small children on visits, as I know I wouldn't give 100% attention to it, even though she is well behaved.
I think once children get to the age where they understand "don't you dare say anything or I will kill you!" then it's ok to take them as long as the job spec doesn't say no children. Older children can be quite useful. I give mine tasks like counting the queue or looking for POS material and stuff. Here I go again on my own....0 -
