Well there is the option of you persuing GAP for payment for the 10 jobs they allocated to you - Jobbingmusician has a better understanding of this but it's a case of them agreeing you should do a job for them, sending you an email to that effect and then cancelling them on you.

If it were me, I would ask for half the fees of the uncompleted jobs (or to actually do those jobs) as by now, my calendar for most of August is full. If GAP did that to me, I would now have lots of spaces in my diary which I might not now be able to fill again.

Do you have the emails confirming that you have been allocated these jobs? If you do, you have a contract to perform work for the company. You could get further advice from the CAB, but I believe you have a strong case for breach of contract as a self-employed provider of services to GAP. Think about it - if you were a computer consultant (for example) and had an agreement that you would go in and work on the first 2 weeks in August, the company buying your services for these weeks could not suddenly cancel on a whim - which is what GAP have done.

Your first action should be to re-create your jobs list using these emails, and email GAP to say that you regard their cancellation of these jobs as breach of contract, and that you are still willing to do these visits as agreed. You might like to repeat this email if it doesn't get a response. The most helpful person to email is suzan.izzet@gapbuster.com

Failing any response (unlikely) or an unsatisfactory response, the small claims court is very easy and cheap to use.........:D http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/claims/index.htm

Can anyone advise me about BARE please? I applied for a couple of telephone jobs with them last week and they've been showing as pending ever since. Today is the due date, so what are they playing at? Do they allocate jobs at the last minute? Or will they have given them to someone else and just not bothered to tell me?

Secondly, is there an easy was to tell on their jobs board which are the new jobs? I keep having to plough through the whole list, surely there must be a way to sort them so you can see newly listed or something?

BARE are absolutely hopeless at allocating jobs and keeping their website up to date. Normally if the date has passed, it means you haven't got them, but occasionally they will allocate you a job after the due date (by which time, of course, you may not be available any more........)

In response to question 2, on the shop log there is a little box saying Status/Job ID. If you set this to 'active', only the outstanding jobs will show. On the job search, when you search, sort by company or due date. Although this doesn't immediately identify which jobs are new, it does mean you can flip quickly through screeds of building societies to find jobs listed by other companies, or with other closing dates!

Most likely. If you can, phone them up and chase.

Click on the "Due Date" title and it will sort those that are due first. Therefore the last page will now show those that are due later.

You can also sort by Company the same way

Blindman, thanks for the tips on searching the jobs board. I don't think I dare ring them to chase up the pending jobs - it specifically says do not ask schedulers on the status of pending shops.

I'll just have to wait and see.
  • Terrible news about Gap, same old same old from that lot, amazing that they judge others customer service but are terrible themselves! Practice what you preach surely?

Bare are hopeless with job allocations, you never know where you are, then they will allocate to you and give you a week to do it, sometimes less.

Why not just allocate it earlier and allow a bit of flexibility?
  • Just joined up to TNS (branching out!) and have a few visits with them, whats the score with paperwork?

They send you an email with a link and pword to look at briefing notes and q'aire. You use this link to enter results. I find the q'aires very simple and straightforward and do not take too long to complete.

Nice to see you back on here LTD :D

Ta! I've not been staying away because of the jealousy of one lurker / user (who saw fit to email a company stating that i had put too many facts, evidently gutted I got a nice wad of jobs and they didnt!) but I've been so so busy with work and then with ms'ing nearly every night last week.

Audits in the main and it's hard work, but I think I am through the pain now!
