You're all liars you know ....

... :)

Just made my 3rd loaf with a breadmaker... OK, tried to make a loaf for the 3rd time.

This was a bag of Wright's Breadmix. I had to guess half the pack, but I was really, really careful to get that right. Used water/olive oil as per the destructions.

It never seemed to rise much during rising/baking.

When it was finished, it wouldn't come out (again). So I got a wooden spatula and pushed that down the sides and tried to lever it out. Still no joy.

Banging away at the bottom wasn't releasing the paddle.

Eventually, 10 minutes, it did come away and:
- the sides were overdone
- the sides were solid/crispy
- it hadn't risen
- it wasn't great
- the paddle was entirely inside the loaf, which is a pain because that was half the depth of the loaf

So, instead of having a bread for the weekend, I've (yet again), got a big square brick. So eaten 3/4s of it already. Not impressed.

I think I will try another approach to this. Maybe the secret is to use it up to the baking point, then whip it out and bake it in the oven.

:)

So, you're all liars.... any fool can't make good home made bread in a breadmaker... I am a fool and I can't!

Happy weekend.

What bread maker do you have?

I have had one bad loaf from mine in two years, it was solid and only fit to be passed onto the local house builders.

I had a Fastbake up to 2 months ago then I freecycled it. I had had it 3 years but it was only used for Pizza dough which can be done in the mixer.

    It's a Morphy Richards Compact

Came highly recommended by somebody who said they'd done their research.

It bakes 1lb loaves (1lb and 1.5lb and there's only me)

Looks like somebody else has exactly the same issues I have with it:

Your not the only one, my breadmaker has been retired to a very dark cupboard, because it's pants, and can't make a decent loaf  . I on the other hand can make very nice bread by hand in hardly any time at all :j .

How long have you had it? Where did you purchase it from?

Are you sure you're not using too much salt in there? Salt will stop bread rising. Even using salted butter instead of unsalted can make a difference :)

I'm massively disappointed with my Morphy Richards Fastbake. My friend has amazing results with her Panasonic and has tried my breadmaker but it still came out disappointing - so it's not me.... I wish my MRF would die so I could buy a Panny.

    Flog it on E-Bay.

2 months by now. Bought it from an online electrical retailer. First one from Argos, when I opened it was 2nd hand and had the spoons missing. And they had no more stock, so went online to buy it.
