Sky Sports News

Options
I am getting myself confused....which is easily done. :o

I need advice.

Been with Virgin for ages but were gutted when we lost Sky Sports News. We want to stay with Virgin, as I don't want the extreme hassle of changing my email address, been there before, worn the tee-shirt, never again! So we kept Virgin, phone, BB and XL pack for £30 a month.

But we wanted Sky Sports news, so cancelled the footie channels with Virgin, and went with Sky as well and they charge us £36 for 4 Mix with Sports Mix so we could have Sky Sports News. Yes I know, expensive to have both! So trying to cut down our bills.

I am going to ring both and tell them I am thinking of leaving, see what deal I can get.

But if I stay with Virgin, there is no way to get Sky Sports News is there? We don't have a Freeview tv, so would it best to cancel Sky and get a Freeview box for Sky Sports News?

Sorry if that sounds confusing, need to get it sorted.

Many thanks.

    Hey Lou :)

You could cancel sky, get a freeview box, and then you have Virgin Media for most things, and freeview box for Sky Sports News.

Freeview boxes come dirt cheap these days :) If you're in an area with a good signal it would definitely be the best option rather thna having both.

There is no way of getting sky sports news on virgin, but as I say a freeview box will give you that luxury.

Or cancel Virgin and get email forwarding or something so you don't lose your email addy...

That is what I would recommend. Moved from Virgin to Sky and never looked back :) x

Sky or Freeview if you're that desperate for it. I never understand the logic though, if you want Sky channels surely it'd be better to go for them in the first place?! :)

We have been with NTL/Virgin for ages.....so didn't have a Sky dish and also, we could get the footie and sky sports news with NTL so there was no need to go with Sky. Then obviously it all changed. We have had one season (I talk seasons, I'm a footie fan...) :D .....of having both...but its too expensive so I think cancelling Sky and getting a freeview box seems the best option.

I'd recommend Amazon for things like this due to the customer reviews. Search for Freeview box and see what you fancy.

It depends if you want extra features like a PVR whereby you can set it to record a series on bbc 1 for example and watch it later :p Or if you just want your simple bog standard freeview box you can find it at amazon :)

And as for installing, at the moment your sky box goes into a Scart plug in the TV. It would be a direct 1 to 1 switch with the freeview box, except you'd have to plug a tv aerial into the freeview box :)

Thank you, I will cancel Sky, can't do it til beginning of July but that will save us a few quid a month. ;)
