Broadband without 12-month min

Hi, we're looking for a broadband package which comes without one of the silly 12-month minimum contracts - also we need one without a cap.

We're only having it till mid-June 2006 so a 12-month contract would be a waste.

If you can suggest any companies who do 1 month or likewise contracts or will allow us to cancel on June 2006 without any penalty please do suggest them!

I've looked into Plusnet but they have an activation fee of £58.75 + £6 for P&P for the modem which is obviously too much. Tiscali have good prices but do a 12 month minimum which isn't so nice

zazizam - minimum 3 months - you can always get a modem from amazon, ebuyer, or ebay - which is cheaper
  • Both of these have monthly usage limits :( aren't there any without limits?

F2S Connect Plus £24.99 on monthly contract is uncapped.

I think most monthly contracts will have some activation fee.

zazizam's packages are unlimited - unless you go for the standard 2mb one with 2gb usage
  • Thanks for those :D

Virgin net has a usage allowance and zazizam has a £47 set up fee which is just £10 less than Plusnet, who have 24/7 support

Do we really have to pay this activation fee to get broadband?

I've looked at this too. Tiscali have a 12 month minimum contract, but they have said I could transfer the service to a new address without incurring extra charges - this, however, is not stated in print anywhere so I would be a little wary.

Everyone else either has a set-up fee of about £50 plus a high monthly charge OR charge a leaving fee if the contract is terminated before 12 months are up eg. Virgin charge a £50 leaving fee (...it's there in the small print!) or ask for 3 months' fees or the remainder of the 12 month contract to be paid.

Can't see a way of avoiding the charges :(

I just had a look at eclipse but nothing there that jumps out at me. They don't seem to mention anything other than the 12-month contract.
