Clever rip-off!
£2.50 connection PLUS 33p per minute from a payphone, 20p per minute from 'an ordinary line' and 40p per minute from a mobile between 0700 and 2100 hrs!
However, "There is no charge if the call cannot be connected, or the called person refuses to accept the call and pay the charges."30 years, 217 days!0 -
Ouch!
:-[something missing0 -
ouch indeed! luckily the nice man at BT kindly barred this service to my phone AND took off two of the £3 charges when i started faking my own death ( rathre vocally ) over the phone! ;D no harm done and im £6 better off!#113 12K in 2020 Challenge #113 £17,103/£12,000 £150000

I hate to be the BT defender again but...
Other than being advertised in BT payphones, and needing BT lines to work, what's it got to do with BT?
BT has its own reverse charge service. No idea of the costs but I'm sure it'll be somewhere here.0 -
As per the other comments, this is not a BT service but another company who advertises this service.
Its a bit like 118118 - they advertise more than BT advertise their own service - and are more expensive than BT.

Luckily there are no BT lines in Hull so I cannot be stung by 0800 REVERSE.
Cannot think why it is more expensive than BT's reverse charge as the BT service requires human intervention. 0800 REVERSE is entirely automatic.
If your kids want to ring you, why not just tell them to dial you number and then hang up! You can then call them back using 18866 for just 1p per call!0 -

The problem with this though is that with most payphones now, you have to put money in first before you make a call. and my eldest has the worst habbit in the world of running out of credit on her mobile and then reversing the charges from a call box to ask me to come and pick her up cos she's missed the last bus. >:(Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission
Love doesn't make the world go round, it's what makes the ride worthwhile

You could try something like a BT Chargecard - its not as cheap as putting money in a phone box but its likely to be cheaper than companies like 0800 REVERSE
I think you can (or you used to be able to) get a version which can only call one number (i.e. your home number)

Yes these cards are great to get for your kids. I had one for my son which enabled him to call my home number only. It was great for my peace of mind knowing he could get hold of me should he have any problem or emergency. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
