Im just wondering if I should stock up, although my daughter doesnt use them at the moment, but will do in the future.

i have bought some and havent found it to be a regular thing dont know if others have been lucky to get them regularly like this i always found them expensive but got them cos of offer!
at asda it finished yesterday and i didnt manage to get anymore in time!
tesco are on offer until next tuesday but it is a smaller pack than those that finished yesterday at asda ! hope this helps!!
sainsburys bogof on until 14/3/06 so thats better but again the smaller £4odd pack like tesco! good luck!0 -
Huggies offers are regular cyclical ones- in terms of the nappies they were on offer in October definately as i bought them then. Just thought i'd say that whilst hte cost is £4.59 in tescos for a pack of nappies , Asda are also doing BOGOF on larger packs of nappies, (29 in a pack of medium pull ups as far as i remember ) and per nappy this works out cheaper than the tesco offer.
Also huggies wipes are on Bogof at ASDA, although tescos always has one wipe or another on offer.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -

I always buy them only when they are on offer and recently i've brought lots, if i were you i'd stack up.
At the moment it works out about £1 cheaper than nappies for me, plus they are so much easier for my toddler.Abbey Loan £6,000

I've been using cloth nappies for a few months now and i am finding that they still smell a little bit after washing. You know, that "ammonia" smell. Only faintly but i can small it. How can i get rid of this?
BTW I put them in a bucket with water with couple of drops of tea tree oil once they come of DD's backside. Leave them in the bucket for about 2 days until i have enough to do a load in the washer. Wash at 60C using BOld 2in1. Generally hang them on the line to dry but during winter i have had to tumble dry them and/or pop them on the radiator.
Should i just add a couple of drops of lavender oil to the bucket solution?0 -
If you're leaving them for 2 days in a mixture of water and body fluids I should think they may well be cooking up all kinds of horrible things and a couple of drops of tea tree oil won't make a happorth of difference.
Wash each nappy out by hand immediately after you've taken it off, put it in a bucket of cold clean water and do a machine wash every day. Common sense really, would you want to wear knickers that had been sitting in dirty water for two days before they were washed ? If they continue to smell of anything other than clean nappy buy a cheap stewpan and boil nappies up regularly.0 -
Zziggi I put ds nappies in a dry bucket and wash when we have a full load, about every 5 days. Pre wash nappies and then wash at 60c. Dry either on the line if weather good enough or on the radiator. We use disposible(sp) liners. Your machine may need to rince the nappies more.

A lot of shaped nappies can't be boiled or they'd be ruined. And washing machines and detergents are much better than ever before.
I left nappies 2 to 3 days so I was washing a full load, otherwise it would have been wasteful and all I did was flush poo down the loo and stick them in a bucket with a decent lid to avoid odours. I didn't soak them.
I washed them in ecover biological powder and napisan or an equivilent nappy soak and used vinegar in the rinse. About 3 capfuls. The vinegar both seemed to neutralise the ammonia and soften the fabric. His nappies never smelled. (My mum would have told me immediately if they had!) And the nappy soak did the job very well, but I never needed anywhere near as much as it said to use in the packet. I think about a teaspoon full.
Try the vinegar, and a prewash if your washing machine has one. I'd use vinegar in that too.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I keep mine in a dry lidded bucket for about 2-3 days. I wash inc. a pre-wash at 60 degrees in Napisan & a splash vinegar, all stains & smells gone:DPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
