Thanks, I think it will make a lot of difference to his confidence, and it will definitely make our holiday much easier if we don't have to worry about cleaning bedding and protecting mattresses (althought think I will still sneak a protective sheet under the proper sheet in the camper, just in case.

He's still on a bit of a short fuse this morning, but we managed to get through yesterday without a major meltdown, so aiming for the same again today.

Yes, I thought it would be safer than risking having to clean the mattress. When he was 4, we went to France and his pyjama pants leaked - we had a nightmare trying to thoroughly wash it all out of the mattress, and then get it dry before the Eurocamp rep noticed!
