Snaggles the Passport is brilliant -:A beautifully written, it comes across really affectionate and proud - bit like you are about him really :D

But I only skim-read the stiff about virgins and chocolate, as they're nothing to do with me :rotfl:

Evening! I've had a fab day at work, learned loads of stuff and have tackled my next bit of training, which turned out to be not nearly as scary as I expected.

I've also had our final tax credits award notice for 07-08, and amazingly, they have only overpaid us by £180, and that's only because they took the bizarre decision to pay us £670 a few days ago. So not bad at all really.

I have to confess we have had to draw £70 back out of the loan, as our shopping budget has gone awry (Stu is still in charge of it, and I'm happy with a £70 deficit, seeing as the first month he was in charge, we ended up with a £400 deficit). Knowing we are not going to have to pay hundreds of pounds of tax credits back though means we will hopefully be able to catch back up fairly quickly.

Lenny - sorry to disappoint you! ;)

Hello Mrs Hypno, hope you have a lovely weekend. :) Don't suppose you could do something to sort the FTSE 100 out could you?? :D

BB - I have a son who is awake until midnight, and a daughter who wakes up at 5.30am! Because Stu has a driving job, we can't really risk him being sleep deprived, but luckily I don't need much sleep. :o Our underwriters aren't quite 24 hours, but the department is staffed from 7am until 11pm every day, which suits me because I prefer to work evenings and weekends so that I don't need childcare.

    Bunny - have a fab day/night out......behave yourself......don't do anything I wouldn't do..... *giggle*

OO - I know, I try and make this a serious financial thread, but these reprobates keep leading me astray.....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

My Mum and Dad are coming for lunch tomorrow, and Stu has decided to make home made leek and potato soup - he's a proper oldstyler! :T I'm sneakily hoping they will have brought us some wine back from their little tour of France....hee hee!

I'm a lending underwriter, so basically, a mortgage sales person sells a mortgage to the customer, and if the customer decides they would like to go ahead, there are two things that can happen:

    - The sales rep keys all the information into a computer, and the computer says 'Yes', in which case I don't get involved

    or

    - The computer says 'I dunno', in which case it gets referred to me to assess it and make the decision.

Same with loans, credit cards, overdrafts and a variety of other weird and wonderful things (bridging finance, sharedealing accounts, self-build mortgages, foreign cheque negotiations....etc....). Basically an underwriter is the person who makes the decision to agree or decline borderline or complex lending decisions, and cops the flack if the customer fails to pay it back.

I think an insurance underwriter does a similar thing, but with insurance obviously, lol (although I don't know for sure, because I don't deal with insurance).

    Lol Bubbles!!

Beanie, wow, are you close enough to hear it? It's a bit chilly here too now, although there's a bit of blue sky in amongst still.

I'm hoping it will be nice weather tomorrow because we want to put the folding camper up to start packing for our holiday - we're not going until the end of August, but you can never start packing too early for a holiday, can you? :D
