That is true - the limit now also seems to be £500

A list of who can/cannot send standing orders would be a useful addition. For example, although HSBC have been doing immediate payments for some time, I think their standing orders still go through BACS?

I only know of Halifax, their standing orders have been going by FP since last summer.

Now that Lloyds and Halifax are, in effect, the same company, WHY OH WHY does it still take 3 days for a SO to go from my Halifax current to my Lloyds current acct?????

I've also tried a 'one off' payment between the 2, which still takes 3 days - but a payment from my Halifax acct to Northern Rock (mortgage) goes straight away by Faster Payment!!

The banks will carry on screwing us as long as they are allowed to. And this pathetic apology for a government shows no signs of championing consumers' interests. They won't even kaibosh the bonuses in the banks that are being propped up with our money.

So I read!

I wondered if it was because they were set up beofre the FP system was in place, so I cancelled one last month and then set it up again as a new one...and it has just taken 3 days again!

Guess I will have to phone them and ask, 'cos it is bugging me now!

Sorry, have just checked my statements and it's not as long as I thought. I have a monthly standing order of £100 from Halifax to Natwest, first payment September 2008. September and October went BACS, since then they have all been FP, without fail.

I have also been able to send immediate FPs up to £500 between Halifax and Natwest for ages, without fail.
