Free petrol- yawn

Unless MSE do something about this, pretty soon these boards are going to be swamped with spam.

Spam posts are spotted pretty quickly members rather than by MSE, so how about giving a few trusted members the power to delete obvious spam posts instantly? I'm sure there'd be many willing volunteers (I'm not suggesting myself btw)...

I am not new, but dont post that often because other ppl get in before me with a good answer.

However, I am getting very pi**e* off with the amount of spam.

Could the not have an automated service that once a thread has been reported say 5 times it is automatically removed until someone from MSE has looked at it, and decide on it's fate!

  • It would be even better if we could expedite all the spamming scum on this planet, so we would't receive all their sh*t in the first place.
However, that would be wishful thinking.

    "Calm down dears"!

Given the number of users on this site, it's amazing the only spam which seems to get through is the petrol-wallah!

I'm sure, soon, he (or she!!!) will be sussed!

These posts really do make me chuckle. It is daily now, the threads are deleted anyway so why continue?

OK new idea, maybe we should run a sweepstake on what user name they are going to use next. Closest person to the actual name wins the pot!!

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
  • There is already a thread on the subject (one of many, but this is the most recent): ;)

Would it be possible to stop new members from posting messages with links until they have a certain number of posts under their belt?

    Also
The text of the petrol spam is easily recognisable - could it be identified and saved until someone has checked it? (to allow for false positives)

    Any other ideas?
