Hi, looking to book for canaries around 12th Dec for fortnight. Lanzarote seems to be coming in the cheapest but I looked at Tenerife as the shopping looked better, but I don't know if I will get more for my money accommodation wise in Lanzarote or Fueteventura.
Myself hubby and kids aged 14 and 12 will be going so I need to be able to keep them occupied with mooching about shops/waterparks etc.
Any ideas? Haven't been to canaries before .....

Go to La Palma, by far the nicest of the Canary Islands. Fantastic scenery, and great for hiking. The only drawback is, there's not many beaches but then again; it all depends what you're going for, lying on a beach or doing activities.0

hiking in la palma
or
shopping at zara, mango and beneton, in tenerife
well i've made my decission.
it's tenerife for me, also has some great bars n restaurants0 -
It would be Fuerteventura for me put possibly too quiet for the teens?0

mmm not many votes for Lanzarote. I think I will opt for Tenerife as my daughter loves her shopping (is it much cheaper tho...?). As we are planning for December do you think I could get a better deal if I wait...?0

We've been to all the canaries, but only lanza and tenerife at xmas,
the only problem is it is warm enough to sunbath but not to go in the water (sea or pool, even a heated pool wasn't really warm enough),
but tenerife wasn't as windy as lanza, and the shops were better,

I'm trying to be a good moneysaver
but I keep reading the bargains on the grabbit board !:rotfl:

I would go for Lanzarote every time. We just stayed in a Villa with heated pool and it was a great holiday. Playa Blanca is the resort for me! It has a few designer shops in the town and more at the Marina.0

I agree with Swiss69, was in Playa Blanca last Sept and the Rubicon marina has gorgeous shops and restaurants. The next town up, Puerto Calero, was also on the verge of opening it's brand new marina with designer shops - good resort for a day trip, I'd still stay in Playa Blanca.OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0

Whenever I seem to look, Tenerife and Gran Canaria seem to be the cheapest......0 -
Do not like Gran Canaria. Its ideal for a beach only holiday for the kids, but there is little else to do.
Imagine Blackpool with Sun.0 -

I disagree, there is quite a lot to do, hire a car and go inland and explore the island. You've also got Sioux City, Jeep trips, Camel Rides etc.
What do you like to do? it might be different to what the OP likes to do......0
