I too use white vinegar and prefer the lovely smell of clothes straight from the line . I have never owned a tumble dryer as I think they are a waste of money.Even when we lived in a tiny flat 40 years ago I had a washing line that my husband fixed up from our bedroom balcony to the tree at the bottom of the garden It was about 200 foot long and the best pulley drying line I ever had .My friend who lived across the road would come over with her washing basket full and by the time we had a cuppa and a chinwag her washing was dry.
There was no conditioner to be had in the shops in those days anyway.
  • I don't use fabric conditioner either, I always do the soda crystal/half washing tablet thing in my wash and dry on the line, and no one has ever mentioned crispy clothes. I can't stand the artificial cheap scents they put in washing powders and conditioners - as someone else mentioned, it clashes with any perfumes I want to wear and I much prefer the scent of freshly dried laundry from the washing line.

im afraid to say that i have a terrible addiction to comfort and lenor. i do usually stock up on both of these when on offer though, suppose thats classed as money saving as well lol.

Ive got a thing about washing powder as well, the new bold liquitabs are out of this world and then iu still add comfort. just love the smell so much.

I also love fabric softner, I love the smell of the clothes when they come out of the washing machine. I have also got the Comfort Almond oil one, it smells divine!

In my defence I do use half the amount and add water!

I use comfort - I really like the new green one, but in only comes in concentrate size (so I always put too much in on auto-pilot!).

If I buy concentrated, I always dilute it into a huge size bottle I keep just for the occasion.

I use a bit on some clothes, but generally I only put in a bit of vinegar in the last rinse.

One interesting thing, a teaspoon or tablespoon of pure glycerine (the chemist sells it) added to the last rinse of your delicates, will leave them all nice and soft, especially thick woolies. The amount depends on the thickness and size of the garment, but a bit of esperimentation will soon give you the hang of it.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I LOVE fabric conditioner - I am an addict. I change from all sorts of brands (always buy on offer) and at the moment I'm addicted to the Comfort Tropical Burst and Tempt Nature (orange and green). I probably use too much though - I suppose I should dilute with water.......

I do buy the Tesco's own washing tablets though so, surely I can't be shunned.... :)

Another FC addict here too :o

I swapped to vinegar and bicarb for about 18 months, and although the washing was just as soft, I got to the point where I really missed my laundry smelling "nice" and swapped back.

I too only buy on offer and am hooked on Lenor Sleep Easy (or something like that) at the moment.
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle

I stopped using fabric softner about 4 months ago and use white vinegar instead.
I may have to begrudgingly buy a bottle though to use on my work shirts unless anyone can tell me how to stop them being clingy and full of static, i`m getting some cracking shocks off things at the moment to everyones amusement:rolleyes:
