I use comfort - I really like the new green one, but in only comes in concentrate size (so I always put too much in on auto-pilot!).

Have the summer fresh at the min (big value size from asda), my sis doesn't use it and always comments on how lovely my clothes smell. Never use it in a towel wash, it stops them absorbing water!!

I always thought it actually made your clothes last longer coz it stops the fibres wearing out so quick! (or maybe that's just my sub-concious trying to justify the cost) he he

I can never understand why people want to perfume their clothes; surely it clashes with your own perfume/aftershave etc? It's bad enough trying to find unperfumed deodorant.

I've never used fabric conditioner. My parents didn't use it either - so perhaps I've never worn softened clothes! Doesn't seem to have done me any harm and I can't say I've noticed clothes being "un-soft".

Wonder how much money has been saved during my lifetime by not using fabric conditioner?

I always use fabric conditioner unless its towels or underwear (well my bras LOl, as it rots the lycra in them), although i water the concentrated wersoin of comfort down by a third roughly and only use the small concentrated size capful per wash (iykwim)

i always use comfort for FB and Persil non bio for washing, i buy it in huge prefessional sizes from my local makro. im just gutted they dont do the new green tempting nature comfort there yet as i could smell it all day!!

I keep reading about people using white vinegar for fabric conditioner, I have just looked in Sainsburys and i'm not sure what you mean.

They had some clear malt vinegar is that what you mean or do you mean white wine vinegar????

Please tell me where to get some from

Busy mum, it's distilled vinegar I used to use. I used to get mine from Makro in a big 3ltr bottle. That was in the days I used cloth nappies.

Ok, I so need to quit my softener addiction. I just ADORE the scent of fresh laundered clothes with softener on. It freshens the house up so I save on air freshener........will that argument work?........LOL?......Maybe?.......please?

    We use ordinary Malt vinegar.
Was a bit sceptical at first so used it on towels with the idea of they stank of vinegar we'd just re-rinse in clear water. As it turned out there was no smell whatsoever so have used it ever since.
The plus is it's not only effective, but also cheap and not only that, the washing machine drawer no longer gunges up.

I use the Tesco value one, which we like the best as it does not make the clothes smell but does make them feel good.
Fabric conditioner does make a noticeable difference which surprised me as I didn't think the male Luxors would notice ;) .

But why use air freshener? Open your windows instead and save even more money.
