what was also good about this scheme was that even when you spent points you actually still earned points back for every full pound spent!!
has anyone seen feb 09 confirmed anywhere in writing such as their website yet?
I had a leaflet from them yesterday (which I've thrown away) but basically said they stop issuing points in September, and you've got till Feb 09 to redeem any points you've got.0 -
went into my local shop and there was a que of people wanting to know how much they had on there card to spend there points.
does anyone have a date yet"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will":j0 -
Is there any way of checking your points balance online?0

Was in my local WH Smith today in Essex where they told me that the Clubcard scheme would be finishing shortly (date unknown). Seems that sometime in the near future they will be emailing registered customers with money-off vouchers instead. I know this started to happen elsewhere in the country before Christmas.
Went into my local W H Smith on Saturday (11th October 2008), handed over my Clubcard and was told the scheme has finished. I asked how many points on my card, and was told there were no longer any points on it. Where have they all gone ?
I have been collection points on this card for years, had not noticed anything in my local Smith's about the scheme finishing and was not notified by e-mail or post. I had hundreds of points last time I used it, have I really lost the lot ??0 -

for those with a lot of points, you can use them to puchase gift cards. these are valid for about 2-3 years, which gives you a little time to decide what to send them onknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

Don't understand that -- I bought something in W H Smith's (Chelmsford) yesterday, handed over my clubcard, was told "this has finished now but I'll take your points (only 12p) off". You should certainly not lose your points before next Feb0 -
I knew my overflowing inbox would come in handy at some point
Just found an email i had from whsmiths back in July about the scheme:
We are continuously looking for ways to improve and enhance our offer. Therefore we are pleased to announce that we are changing our Clubcard scheme to the new WHSmith Privilege Club. This is an existing new membership scheme for WHSmith customers offering significantly better value, with customers getting '£s off' vouchers rather than points with immediate savings which are easier to use - and no need to carry a card!
As a result of these changes we will stop issuing Clubcard points in your local store on Thursday 21st August. But don't panic! You will still be able to redeem your points until 28th February 2009.

Was in Smiths yesterday and when I handed over my card and the assistant told me I had x amount of pounds on the card. Nice, I thought, but can I just pay for my stuff and collect my points?
'Oh, we don't issue points now', she said. Then I remembered this thread and cursed my luck as I was spending almost £30 and that adds up to a few points.
I was asked if I wanted my card back but I declined as I'd used all the cash that was on there.
I don't ever recall getting any mailings, postal or electronic, from them about the scheme finishing so it's just as well I check these forums regularly!Life's what you make it....
"I've got one, two, three, [STRIKE]four[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]five[/STRIKE]... senses working overtime..", XTC.
Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?0 -
a lot of cards are not actviated, which means it hasn't been used for a long time, but the money is still lon there, you have to phone the helpline to get it activated again.
a lot of employees might not know this and just assume it has no money left on there
there are al ot of absent minded ppl who sometimes use the points but don't remember..i think you can phone up and check when the points were used up.
and its only 1p per pound spent so most people really don';t have a lot of money on their cards0
