Having used the moneysavingexpert tool and finding that ICE were significantly the best exchange rate for Chinese Yuan, I took a chance yesterday morning and ordered the currency online. By placing the order well before the daily deadline, it appeared that I would get my currency by special delivery the next day, on condition my bank had transferred the money by then.

This morning I checked online with my bank and it appeared that my money hadn't been transferred to them - a quick call to my bank confirmed that my bank had authorised transfer but it hadn't been claimed by the company yet.

However, at about 11.30am the currency was delivered as promised so no last minute panic by me
(flying on 2nd Jan!) - I've checked again and the money still hasn't been claimed but as long as I have my currency they can take as long as they like!

Ice plc do a price guarantee, they call it a price match but actually the beat the best price and then send you a gift as well. Worth considering when you use the travel money maximiser, get best price and then phone ice to beat it. Ordered today so money should be here tomorrow :-)

    Hi guys,

I bought 3100 Turkish Lira for £1017.39 from Travelex yesterday & I received my currency this morning - superb service.

It worked out at 3.04701TL to £.

Also, as promised the have promised to price match ICE who had a better rate advertised at the same time - 3.073TL to £.

I'm very happy & will definitely use them again!!

I used ICE's delivery service. I ordered Turkish Lira Friday morning, no charges as over their minimum, paid extra 99p for Saturday delivery and received my cash, all safe and sound, the next morning.

Very happy and highly likely to use them again.
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.
  • I have not used any of these - but wanted to share my feedback on Moneysupermarket.com / Debenhams...

I am looking to buy Euros.

There is a special exchange rate for Moneysupermarket.com customers if going with Debenhams.

In this instance I wanted £500 of Euros. Today this equated to 580.13EUROS.

I then printed off the money supermarket voucher which states I'd receive additonal discount if I took this voucher into the store and paid using my Debenhams Card.

I have just telephoned Debenhams in the Birmingham Bullring who told me that for £499.14 I'd get 580EUROS. A total discount of £0.86. The Debenhams employee defended this mediocre discount as it is technically "a better rate", but, to be honest, this is not worth my busfare / petrol into town to collect the currency let alone the paper the voucher was printed on.

I think this sort of promotion is misleading... enticing customers into the store and then offering very little... it has made me hugely disappointed with both Moneysupermarket.com and Debenhams.

I had a bad experience with FairFX, so have just used Eurochange for my holiday money and they were an absolute pleasure to deal with even to the point of phoning me and asking me exactly what mix of notes I'd like the Euros to be in.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............

Well so far not impressed with Telegraph Travel/Moneycorp. I ordered my Euros first thing Thursday morning with the promise of next day delivery. Got my order received and dispatch e-mail both before midday, all good so far.
Then Friday, no delivery, despite waiting in until the postman arrived at 2pm. And Royal Mail's track and trace service said it had no information online. Ok I thought, bit concerning, but must be tomorrow.
So Saturday morning (today) comes, still nothing. Rang Royal Mail and they said the company did not send the item out in time for the deadline for next day delivery, but it was out for delivery today. Ok, that's fine I thought. Postman comes, nothing, again, and by this time Royal Mail were closed so I couldn't call back.
Rang Telegraph instead to complain, got straight through and the customer services consultant was nice enough, apologised, and said his manager would call me back within 10 minutes and they would make sure we received our money before travelling. Waited all afternoon for their call, guess what, nothing. So no Euros and no s*** given.
We don't travel until Thursday, but I'm going to miss any attempted delivery on Monday or whenever it might be, so I'm going to have to try to get it from the collection office. Let's hope they don't tell us to wait 72 hours before collecting as they sometimes do, because if so we are absolutely stuck.

ETA: A helpful manager from Moneycorp has been in touch today after I sent an e-mail of complaint last night and investigated. The company did send the money on time, but Royal Mail logged it late and they have today admitted they have in fact lost the item. Moneycorp are re-sending the money today for delivery tomorrow (hopefully) at my husband's work address, and they will attempt to claim the loss from RM, which is brilliant of them. Not too happy that if the original order turns up I have to send it back by special delivery, which is going to leave me further out of pocket, but I am going to lodge a complaint with RM and I'll certainly be raising that with them. Either way I'll certainly never order currency online again, I would now rather get a worse rate and a couple of Euros less and have it placed in my hand at the supermarket.

  • Hi
I have used the ones you mentioned and had no trouble until now! Left it too late to shop around so tried to order online from Tescos thru the above website. You have to pay up front, they give you a date to collect. I didnt like it so I phoned Tesco direct. Guess what, the bureau doesnt have deliveries at the weekend so if I had ordered online my money would arrive Monday afternoon when I am already in Norway! Good job I checked first.

No you don't - you refuse to sign for it and RM will return to sender
