I will go for Kaspersky(good price at £36.12)
Will take the free trial first though.
Have had both Norton and Mcafee and they both are too heavy for my single CPU

I second Kaspersky Internet Security.
By the way, if you purchase now (or at any other time), the new version (2009) which will be out officially in the UK in a few weeks will accept your license key - so you're not stuck with an old version of KIS.
As long as you have an active license key you will always be entitled to use the latest version of Kaspersky.Lack of money is the root of all evil.

I did an Kaspersky on-line scan yesterday to try to identify a Virus that I know is resident - Live Messenger is sending links to Address Book people - unfortunately, like the other virus checkers it does not find it.
No Virus scanner is infallible then.0 -

Are you sure it is 'resident' or did you sign up with one of those 'networking' websites?
Anyway, try Trojan Hunter 5. If nothing there, maybe then SuperAntiSpyware.0 -
Yes, SuperAntiSpyware gets recommended quite a lot. By now though I feel fairly sure that any scan that does not run from a CD after you have turned the computer off is not going to find this.
(I would be interested to know what you mean by Networking Website Donnie, am I missing something here?)0 -
Kapersky is a good one, also check out the sticky thread at the top of this board detailing all the free antivirus stuff.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0
