I currently have Norton360 installed but find that it kills my laptop when updating etc.
I am looking for the best total cover that is "light" on the pc.
Any Ideas??

Is that a low CPU user0

I'll second Kaspersky IS 2009. NOD32 Smart Security is also light on resources.0

I have been running Avast on my laptop, desktop and DD's laptop.
All have been running well for over a year without infection.
Even better, for home use it's free.

AVAST free is just an anti-virus solution.0

Some Trojans seem to be ignored by Virus checkers but picked up immediately by Spyware scanners like Spybot S&D or even AVG Antispyware. AVG 8.0 now combines full Virus and Spyware scanning into 1 action - this makes good sense in terms of the time it takes to scan a disk for instance0

The bin is the best place for a lot of Norton stuff. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0

I bought the Norton Suite, and found that it just killed my computer. Operation was horribly slow to the point where it made the computer almost unusable.
I got my money back from Norton, and downloaded the free trial of Kaspersky Internet Suite. The trial produce is NOT a stripped down version - it's the full software, but time limited to 30 days for the trial.
It found a couple of things on my computer (spyware mainly) that Norton hadn't detected. It's detection facilities are amongst the best, in my opinion.
If you like Kaspersky you can simply purchase a license online and plug that license code into the trial version to remove the time limitation. The license lasts a year, after which you'll need to purchase a new one. When I renewed this year, there was a whole new version of the product available, so I downloaded that for the upgrade fee.
Very fair I think. I have NEVER had any problems with viruses, spyware, malware, worms, etc. since using Kaspersky.
(and no, I'm not an employee of Kaspersky Labs) - but I do work as an IT consultant.0 -
Thanks fo rthe replies.
I will go for Kaspersky(good price at £36.12)
Will take the free trial first though.
Have had both Norton and Mcafee and they both are too heavy for my single CPU0
