I'm normally into quick cooking, but one recipe worth trying is the Chicken Liver pate one from the Gary Rhodes books 'At the table'.

Compared to my normal recipes it takes time (I normally just throw things in and hope it works), but it's definately worth a try for a special treat.

It is nothing like shop bought pate, I'll make at least double quantities next time :o

Edit - Forgot to say, I normally find chicken livers in tubs in the freezer section of the large supermarkets, you might be able to get them elsewhere though.

I love kidneys. They go great in a cooked breakfast! YUMMO! Love steak and kidney too,

Also love stuffed hearts. I find them more "meaty" than a leg of lamb.

Liver's ok, but can be a bit powery, but good with bacon.

saw a sheep's head in zam zam's window this morning (local butchers), tongue hanging out n'all. Apparently a lot of nice meat in the cheeks;)

I'm glad you said it Gingham Ribbon cos I was thinking it too, about why not eat all the animal if you're gonna eat it at all (also a veggie so I was wondering)... I remember that passage about the pig in Little House! Loved those books.

My justification for being a vegan was the same as for being a raging carnivore, the whole of the animal should be used or not at all. A pub locally is serving pigs trotters and onion mash :)

And a teacher friend sent me a link to a music for kids site where you could get animals noises to make the notes for nursery rhymes. So even the oink can be taped and turned into beautiful (cough) music! :D

Lost the link I'm afraid, if anyone was wondering.
