I watched the programme that set this thread away, I would not eat much shown but I found that I was able to without feeling ill and if I fancied offal the recipes were easy and probably fine but it was kind of funny the cook trying to promote using more offal struggling with some of what he was offered to use.
In the end he stuck to fairly common parts like liver and kidneys. Though what he had in last recipe for faggots was too much for myself when lungs were included."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Surely, if you eat sausages, you are eating all those 'squeamish' bits anyway - you just don't realise it?:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Amount £21862:eek:April 2013 = £20414:T April 2014 = £11000 :TApril 2015 = £9500 :T April 2016 = £7200:T

I'd be more than willing to try any type of offal at least once - I'm definitely not the squeamish type!
I have no objection to eating any offal on principal, so for me it comes down to whether I like the taste and / or texture.
I love kidneys, particularly grilled - I'll have to get some from the butcher now you've made me think of them.I'm partial to liver in pate form, although I don't much care for the texture of a whole piece so I probably wouldn't eat it in any other form - I'll make an exception for chicken livers, though, which are rarely less than delicious however they're cooked (as long as they're not over-cooked, as they tend to go unpleasantly dry).
I used to like pressed tongue when I was a kid, then went off it and haven't eaten it since: I'll have to buy some next time I see it and find out what I think now. I have very un-fond memories of heart - I remember it being chewy and tube-y - but it sounds like it's usually better than that so I might have to have a go at cooking it myself. I've also been told great things about a local butcher's faggots (ooh err!) and must give those a go sometime soon, too.
I think you've inspired me - thanks, OP!Back after a very long break!0 -
We eat lambs liver with bacon, mushrooms and oyster sauce. It makes a lovely rich gravy to be eaten with peas and mash IMHO, the only way. Have devilled kidneys but not tried much else in the way of offal.
Isn't offal internal organs so oxtail and rabbit wouldn't count? Last time I had rabbit I was at primary school so dont remember what it was like. Never tried much in the way of game at all really.0
