Hi all,

Any help or advice is appreciated.

It is illegal to use a car on the road without a valid tax disc on display. why have you not got the disc and how do you know it is taxed?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

o believe you can be given a fine for not showing your disc on front window screen0

hi,
The car dealer i am buying off said the car was taxed with the receipts but they dont have the tax disc - which i thought was strane (which is why i put up this post). I am collecting the car soon to drive home and didnt want to be moving it illegally.‘It ain’t over 'til it's over’0 -
I would think they've sent off the disk for a refund - in which case this is NOT a legal car. Ask them what the situation is but be prepared to pay out for tax...

thanks for the reply - I didnt think the car was taxed so i was expecting to pay - think i will take the risk of driving it home (15 min drive) but then wait till i've sorted the tax before driving it again.‘It ain’t over 'til it's over’0

This issue has raged on another board and the answer seems to be that having no tax does not affect your insurance.
This all sounds very odd, as either they have the disc and the car is taxed or it simply isn't. I can't think of any other permutation so I agree that they have probably sent the disc off for a refund in which case if the OP gets stopped they will get the police fine and then one will follow from the DVLA. The fourteen day concession will not apply if the vehicle has been caught on the road.0 -

Yes I saw that thread, but I was asking IF it is insured, this being a completely different question and not getting into the other thread, but a genuine point as cars are either insured or they are not and as we all know it is an offence for a car to be on the road uninsured.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
£60.00 fixed penalty fine from the police for 'Non-Display of Disc':j0

Ah, I misunderstood. Apologies.
I have re-read the thread and now notice that no mention is made of insuring the vehicle but I would assume that as the OP is querying whether it is taxed he/she has been responsible enough to insure it.0
