Innocents affected by this

The other innocents that are affected are the young boys leaving school looking for an apprenticeship. We have plenty of enquiries from school leavers looking to start in August as an apprentice with none being available.
We already have 5 apprentices and will be looking to pay them off if things do not pick up.
I believe unemployment figures will increase significantly in the next few months. June targets for builders are almost reached and as you will know the larger housebuilders are paying off a lot of people at the end of this month. Again this will affect the wider economy as less people with money in their pocket and this is just the beginning ..............
Yes it's not nice, but I wonder how many people in the building trade worried about the prices of a pair of jeans falling to £3 because they're made in China, there was a time they would of been produced in the UK.
Human beings unfortunately are often very self-centred, often even apparently selfless acts benefit us in someway, but we can't have it our own way all of the time no matter how much we stamp our feet. Yes you'll probably suffer because of the fall in house prices, I'm sorry but other people have suffered becuase of the rise in house prices. Should they continue to suffer to secure jobs in the building trade? Should even more people be made to suffer as houses become unaffordable for the average person to secure jobs in the building trade? Should the government try and contol the market so that house prices never rise faster than inflation to stop the boom and bust?"One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -

You hit the nail on the head - it's just the beginning.
This isn't the actual recession -this is just the prelude. Things are going to be bad, very bad. Especially if the BBC stories about 40% rises in energy prices coming down the pipeline are true - it will be a very, very difficult winter.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Never said it was. It was the "I believe I am one of the innocents in that I only want a small house in which to bring up my family." comment, as it seeemed contradictory to the signature in my opinion. Perhaps I have the wrong end of the stick? I also live near london, and providing you have a deposit of 10%, there are lots of sub £200k 'small houses'.0 -
I have ITFC are still looking to buy more players.mr.broderick wrote: »Ever got any good news !!!!!!?

I wouldn't take the opportunity though

i don't even own a house and people like me are still going to be hit by the crash and other associated economic problems..... if rents rise a lot, i'm in trouble. meanwhile bills are going up for utilties and food, general unemployment is rising making more competition for any job i want to go to. this downturn is directly impacting on estate agents, developers, solictors, builders etc, but if there is a major crash (all depends on what you call major!), it effects us all as consumer spending will drop and cause problems in the retail and entertainment sectors etc etc etc. i'd love to afford to buy, and even if prices drop, it's very much a pyrrhic victory. this downturn is not a good thing at all, not for anyone.:happyhear0
