Hi Setmefree1 and followers of the energy diary
I'm back down to an E despite my useage having decreased slightly since last week - I turned down the storage heaters - but I'm sitting at 23/48 in the carbon club. I didn't see any mention of the competition on i-measure so can only assume that it has been withdrawn through insufficient entries.
I wish I could get my electricity down a bit but it is impossible. I'm in a rented 3 storey house and obliged to keep the place heated to a standard that prevents damage to the decor and, as it has been so damp this year, personal belongings have already been damaged, hence the added expense of investing in the dehumidifier. Apart from that, I have to agree with what the OP said - there is a limit to how much the household will tolerate without rebelling. The hot water is only on once a week now and, even at that, it looks like last week cost us almost £25. I need to compare all users/all households otherwise there's no other households the exact same as ours.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Here are the results for my family this week; we have gone up to a B rating and are 32/49 in the carbopn club and were being compared to 172 households.
This might have something to do with the fact that we have oil for our water and heating , although we haven't had the heating on as yet, we have had a couple of small coal/log fires during the last week.

Just to compare we're 2 person household, also no shower, 12+year old boiler (not combi) with gas hob (oven is electric) and we used between 9 - 13KWH per day without heating.
Well, there are six adult sized people in our house so it'll be a long time before I can achieve 13kwh a day! All cooking is by gas and oven is used at least three or four times a week. In the summer holidays, I make bread every day, bake more cakes etc. so that all adds up. We do share bathwater so long as I go in first) and I encourage everybody not to waste hot water, well any water but I don't see a daily bath as extravagant.0 -
Just checked my results on i-measure now that I've done 13 weeks, and they estimate my costs to be £111.48.
Got my actual bill online yesterday and it was £112.66 before VAT was added on, so they are pretty accurate!
