This takes my weekly average over the 47 weeks to £18.77 including the standing charge. It's still better than the £100/month I'd budgetted and that's excellent! It means I can afford Christmas dinner, albeit by 'borrowing' cash from my electricity budget because the food budget doesn't look capable of stretching that far.

Just entered my readings for this week - both gas and electricity are less than last week (down by 11kWh and 12kWh respectively). CO2 emissions have dropped from 51kg to 43kg for the house (from 25.5kg to 21.5kg per person)

BUT gas, electricity and water are ALL about to jump !!!!

I've managed to get a job (induction this Fri/Sat, actual working pattern from next Monday) which is great news :D

But the 'not so good news' in terms of utility bills is that it's in a supermarket in-store bakery........ So that's uniforms to be washed, and daily showers/hair washes (instead of mainly strip washes) - with the showers probably ending up being twice a day (before work for obvious hygiene reasons, and after due to having been working in heat I'm not used to).

I'm certainly going to need a lot more hot water, as I had a shower/hair wash before my interview last Friday and DS had a looong soak in the tub later that day (he had an interview on Saturday). When I came to wash pots that evening I ended up having to boil the kettle, and only just managed to avoid kettle boiling again on the Saturday (water heater obviously hadn't fully caught up). I think another shower any time from Friday to Sunday would have meant boosting the water heater

    Hello again everyone

Congrats to you cw18 on your new job :j you shall at least be lovely & warm in the bakery! I've followed your posts for a while and I'm really pleased for you!

We are again on double A this week. Still not put heating on as its been so mild here, but wet with it today and yesterday although enough sun to take the chill off in the daytimes AND I've managed to get a load of washing dry today!

Your household's total energy spend over the last 54 weeks is £357.38.
For week ending 1st November, 2009 your household spent £4.80 in total.
Gas meter (cubic metres): £0.00 - Main electricity meter: £4.80

Really pleased with these readings as this time last year we were spending about £6-£7 a week as we'd already put the heating on.

    Congrats from me too!:j:j:j
If it were me in the bakery I'd probably want to eat whatever I made!:o
And your CO2 is brilliant. Mine's set to go up too as I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep the heating off.
Best of luck with the new job and hope you work out a routine that means the utility bills don't shoot up too much.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)

Well done you AnimatedBravoSmiley.gif Fantastic reductions.

I'm still line drying too, which is just brilliant for November. I'm afraid our CH is on most days now for a short while in the morning and the evening. I have invested in 3 more polo necks however and they are keeping me lovely and warm:D

    Hi Guys :)

I'm afraid that NYK land will soon be bumping up the national averages again but that should make it easier for most to show below average ratings soon :D I've HAD to switch the storage heaters on and they're taking a couple of days to heat up, so I've now had to plug in an electric heater. It's set as low as it'll go but still kicking in quite often. The open fire is just no match for the persistent cold, wet weather we've had for the past don't know how many months and I can't get my logs dried. Today I thought it was snowing!! However, it was just hail stones lying on the hen houses & log store roof. Phew! The sun's shining at the moment but it's gone below 10 degrees outside again, so gets really nippy first thing in the morning. Monday's reading will see a dramatic increase, despite all heaters being set to low. You have been forewarned and I apologise in advance for increasing the national averages. :o

Oh I am naughty cos my first reaction was oh great, at least I won't feel guilty when I cave and put on the heating!:o:D Thank you in advance for improving my chance of getting a decent rating!:p

It's been really chilly here; according to accuweather (don't know if they are accurate) it's 8C outside at the mo) but my indoor temp is 17C as the sun has warmed up the sitting room. But it has been as low as 11/12 inside and I feel myself starting to waver.

But never mind Nykmedia, you have a good excuse living in Scotland - you always seem to get the coldest, harshest weather there. Stay cosy!

Nykmedia - we've used our heating a lot more this week as well, the temperatures have dropped a lot this week.

We normally put our central heating timer on to come on a few times a day but I've decided to try just having it coming on in the morning and the rest of the time I can switch it on manually for an hour using the boost button if I feel like we need it on. I'm rubbish at remembering to switch the timer off on the odd occassion I go out at when it normally comes on so this way it won't be heating up an empty house. Also if I forget that I put it on it will only be on for an hour.

Cw18 - congratulations on getting the job!

It's lovely and sunny here today, although still fairly cold, we have the nappies drying out on the line!
