Thanks for that - bit pricey for me though, but I'll bear it in mind as a last resort.
Royal mail customer services are now telling me that they can't do any more, it's between me and mr unreasonable at the delivery office, so I'm not holding my breath about getting anything sorted any time soon.
Custardy - how do I get hold of the regional managers details? Customer services won't give it to me, as they say I have to write to the proper customer services address instead? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Just a thought - does your thinner sized front door entrance meet building regulations okay? If it's too narrow for a postie + sack to fit through, it would more than likely be too narrow for a fireman + breathing apparatus. Make sure it's okay for regulations otherwise council could fine you I think. And you'd have serious problems if you ever come to sell too.0

Sorry, I aint Custardy but just to say that doubt you would be able to get those contact details unfortunately.
The Delivery Managers senior would be his/her Sector Manager and his/hers would be the Area Manager. Although Customer Service would not be able to give the direct contact details out your complaint would be escalated in stages and referred to the relevant managers. i.e on a first complaint CS would contact your Delivery Manager, 2nd complaint (repeat of the same nature) would be referred to the Sector Manager and 3rd (again of the same nature) would be referred to the Area manager.
It would only be reffered in the event of a repeat complaint where the Delivery Manager had failed to resolve matters and problem continued..0 -

Your posts on this subject are unbelievable. Instead of whinging and whining why don't you do something constructive to help the postmen?? By your own admission the door is too small so instead of letting the postmen struggle do something about it, like either remove it or lock it and put a letter box in it??
The postmen do a brilliant job for what they get paid and the !!!! they have to put up with and it's awkward people like you that want them to jump through half a dozen hoops in order to get to your letterbox that !!!! them off. It's irrelevant that they managed to do it before; the fact is that they shouldn't have done and you were just extremely lucky to get a tolerant postie. If I'd have been the postie and you'd complained about me you definitely wouldn't be getting your mail delivered anymore and you would be having to collect it from your local sorting office.
The postie shouldn't be opening outer doors to get to the letterbox anyway (unless it's flats or similar). If there's no external letterbox then they should be going back as 'no access'. Just sort the problem out and stop trying to blame it on them.
Geez, don't people have anything better to moan about....

Rob
Not going to quote your whole post but I think you were a bit harsh "Rob". This was a nice civil discussion till then and the OP is being quite reasonable despite being told on a number of occasions that he might indeed be in the wrong. I think the OP is justified in trying to get some sort of reasonable service from the temp posties. His regular postie has set a precedent for 8 years, of being able to deliver the post in a hassle and injury free manner. It's quite reasonable to ask for an answer as to why the temp ones cannot.
I'm intrigued to know why you feel that the postie should only have to open a door if it's a block of flats? Isn't that discriminatory? Isn't a house "similar" to a flat? :rolleyes:Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!
Closet debt free wannabe -[STRIKE] Last personal loan payment - July 2010[/STRIKE]:T, credit card balance about £3000 (and dropping FAST), [STRIKE]Last car payment September 2010 (August 2010 aparently!!)[/STRIKE]

a block of flats requires you to open the door to gain entry to the delivery points
if you cannot gain entry to the main door or for example the entry system is broken then the mail is left in the office for collection
same rules for them
i dont think you can compare flats which by their nature require an external door over a main door property
fact is the route to a delivery point should be as free of obstruction as possible
this includes big huge overhanging bushes, stiky gates etc
an average duty in my office is 700 doors or calls in RM speak
if you have to open a door for each call its going to add massive time to a delivery span
as ive said its a bisuness now not a service
times are hard in RM for the business and workers
people got used to the way RM worked not being charged for underpaid postage, free unofficial redirections, the same old postie every day who knew where everyone lived so it didnt matter about getting the address right etc etc
these days are long gone im afraid0
