Can't comment on that particular HO. Only thing that I would say is to make sure that you have plenty of room for dealing with the lid when removing it. I've got a similar oven, and it's brill, however, I do have quite a large kitchen, so it's not a problem as I have plenty of workspace. You can buy a lid rack from various places, although I don't know how good they are. I lay mine on a worktop saver.
I'd certainly go for one with a hinged lid if I were to buy again....weren't available when I got mine.0 -
I'm thinking of buying a halogen oven, and having read a fair bit of this thread, still have a few questions..
Is it better to get one with a hinged lid or removable lid? I'd think hinged, but some people have mentioned the hinge being weak or the lid falling down.
What's the best brand to get? I was going to get an Andrew James, but some people have mentioned the fan failing.0 -
PopeSock - I'm sure you've got one by now but I suggest the hinged lid only because my kitchen is small and I don't have to find a space to put the lid when I take it off
Advice please: I've got a Breville Halo and use it all the time, more as a grill than an oven but I'm a bit concerned about how grubby the element is behind the metal screening. I realize that they get very hot, but should it still be cleaned somehow? I'm just not totally thrilled with the idea of weeks/months/(hopefully?) years of splatter going untouched :rotfl: There was nothing in the booklet that came with it about this bit.
There are a couple of screws that I "could" try taking off but I'm wary and wouldn't know how to clean a halogen element if I did!0 -
Cooked some home made naan breads in mine today - total guess work, but pre heated the frying plate on max, then cooked 2 naans at a time for 2-3 mins each side, turning when browned - mine were maybe a bit thick and more like oven bottom muffins <G> but family came back for more!
Thank you for the post. Assume full heat
Did you use the extension ring.0 -
I've been looking at the small 7l halogen ovens to use in a caravan with limited work surface. Can anyone recommend a particular brand? And would I be able to fit a small chicken, or least a half of one in such a small oven? Thanks.0

I think they are all the same Feral... my recent 7ltr was Von something, lasted three years.
Not knowing the exact size I replaced it with a 12litre Sentik from Amazon. HUGE in comparison. Try to get one with replacement halogen tube. Andrew James probably.0 -

I've looked for the Andrew James 7l as it would be ideal but I think it may have been discontinued. I've spotted the Von Shef one on Amazon though.
I just wonder whether the 12l might be too big, although if I can get one with a hinged lid I may not need as much space. Maybe I should go into an electrical store to compare sizes (assuming they stock several models).0
