MBNA are baskets, they really are, Let them pass the debt over. In the meantime write a letter sent by recorded delivery and tell them to stop phoning you.

You are not alone in your situation, we are here to help, I simply do not know how some of those people from MBNA can sleep at night, I can bet you any money that some of those people from MBNA are in debt too, and you just wait for there creditors to get shirty with them, what goes around, comes around.

Chin up, wipe the tears away, MBNA are not worth getting puffy eyes over...

Lots of hugs to you sweetheart, they are an evil bunch of c u next Tuesdays.

I used to be scared of MBNA but my last verbal communication with them was when I informed them that our 'payment plan' wasn't working out. (I paid £50 per month which they then cancelled out and exceeded with charges and interest)

The advisor informed me that if I didn't pay that day by debit card, my account would be sent to a DCA, I pointed out that by him passing it to a DCA, I would get all charges stopped and could actually pay it off, he agreed with me, I laughed and said 'See ya!' and put the phone down. :rotfl:

Good luck with your CCCS appointment. :T

DCAs are usually better to deal with and all mine have stopped interest. dont worry CCCS are used to these barstewards and their horrible tactics. Good luck on your DMP mine is fab!
  • Thankyou all so much for your kind words today...really needed to hear something positive after that awful phone call. It sounds like it could be the best thing for the debt to be passed onto a DCA so I won't have to deal with MBNA ever again :o have a great day everyone! xxx

I know initially, it feels as if there is a kind of shame and stigma attatched to DCA's, believe me, it's not the case.

I felt dirty and that I was the only one who had debt problems.........having chatted to a couple of friends about unrelated things, I found that they had dealings with DCA's too, we've had many a discussion over a cuppa as to which ones are ok and which ones are the worst. :rotfl:

In the grand scheme of things, life is for living and loving, debt is something not pleasant but needs to be dealt with in the best possible way - like an attack of diahorrea in a way. ;)

  • I can't believe that company - they sound horrid!! All I can say is try and concentrate on your CCCS and what that will mean when it's sorted. Once it's in place you'll feel so much better. At the end of the day, once it gets passed on it's more than likely the interest will stop being charged. I started my CCCS plan, last year in May and my interest was stopped and it was the best thing I ever did. I'd got to the point were I owed £20K and I couldn't even afford to buy food! They will really help you out there and provide some really good support and advice.

I know it's hard and you feel rock bottom but you can get through it!! Hug :)

For all those moaning (and quite rightly) about MBNA and their collections tactics - Have you thought about claiming back your charges from them?? - They pay in full, with contract interest after two letters (excluding statement request) and also, providing you have no outstanding balance, they pay you by cheque - if your account has been passed to a DCA then you still get the cheque.

Also, MBNA will only pass your account onto a DCA after you have missed six payments.

Just for reference, I am not one of these nasty people in MBNA that keep phoning up and demanding money - Dont work in collections dept, and never will.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

They think its their job to scare you & be nasty, they think they will get more money that way, its just play acting really.

If they call again just say you want everything in writing & keep repeating it like a robot. Dont get into any discussion with them.

As people have already said, being passed to a debt collector normally stops interest charges & debt collectors have absolutely no more authority do to anything more than my dog could.
If they threaten any more just post on here and someone will tell you whether its crap or not (usually is)
