Buy a new Legal & General combined buildings and contents policy by Jan 2015 and enter the code MSENOV14 to get a prepaid pocket mastercard loaded with £70.
So, with MSE'S helpful advice
Paid £177.05
- gift of mastercard £70
- Quidco has now tracked for £70
-Quidco's Gocompare has tracked for £1.75
This is from the Quidco Ts + Cs for this offer:
Using promotional codes not listed on this site will result in cashback being declined0 -
Quentin, yes saw that too! It has tracked in Quidco but could also be declined.
Nothing is yours till it is in the bankThe secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Sounds unbelievable, well done!! Unfortunately it only works within certain standard buildings anything slightly different doesn't fit the online criteria. and then there's all the security locks stuff etc. when you read the small print. So many ways insurance companies can wiggle out of paying out.0

I found these gave my cheapest price on comparison website, so no criticism of them .
Beware though, when I tried the MSE link to get an £80 amazon voucher my quote went up by, you've guessed it £80! So probably worth checking to make sure you are not paying for your own present.
Happy cost cutting!

I have been duped by a fraud man who claimed himself to be a businessman at Richmond Hill. When I went for a visit , he played it really well so that I trust him completely. I have handed him my agreements original copy , which by this time he would have tampered with) and some money as advance. I anticipated his return for a long time ( months) and apart from the one call that he made the week after our agreement exchange, he has not responded to my mails or calls. I tried to figure out all possible ways to locate him/ find my documents, but in vain. Right now I'm seeking legal help from the Criminal Defence Lawyer at The Defence Group, Toronto. They have agreed to cooperate with me and help me collect evidence. I need to know whether my insurance will be of any help in this regard. If so how ? Suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance .0

I live in a council rented flat and have just found out, the hard way that Direct Line wants £350 excess for a blocked sink water damage so I have had to suffer the cost of the damages myself as I don't have £350! On filling in some forms for quotes I was asked if I had been bankrupt and as I had about 5 - 6 years ago I answered yes and WOW am I being penalised! Not a lot of companies will cover me and the ones that do are quoting 5 - 8 times a normal quote, any advice on getting a sensibly price House Contents cover?0

It's quite common for Insurers to increase the excess for water damage claims in flats as these types of properties have a habit of leaking pipes or sinks etc. Especially in council blocks0 -
My renewal price for Buildings and Contents Insurance from Swintons was nearly £250.
I followed Martin's advice and used a combination of price comparison sites to find BETTER cover for £104.57.
Already a saving of £145.30 :j
Because I used a particular site, I also qualified for a Baby Oleg Meerkat toy and as I was taking out a policy as a new customer, received £70 in Amazon vouchers.
If the cashback from Topcashback tracks, 400K of buildings cover and 50K of contents insurance has cost just £34.57 and comes with £70 Amazon vouchers and a cuddly toy my son adores!
Assuming the toy to be worth £20, my insurance has cost the equivalent of ................minus £55.43! :money:
Do I win a prize?!
THANK YOU- this site is amazing!

Hi All
We had a flood at home and had new flooring fitted as part of the fix, this went faulty after about 1 week ( basic poor workmanship) after complaining they sent a loss adjuster to remedy the problem as the original problem took months to fix (Don't want to bore you with the full story).
Anyway just after 12 months we noticed that the new floor has started to loose its colour, Looks as though we have masked off a section and sanded it down. I complained to the company who fitted it and they just ignored me. I complained to the loss adjuster all I get off him is I am waiting for your file to come from archive.
Do any of you have links or advice to send him a letter as this was only 12 month and 8 days over the 12 month. Just like I purchased a faulty iPod etc.. as im sure im protected somewhere.
Cheers
