    Hi Catwoman,
Not sure about that, a couple of my creditors have said interest would be stopped then on the statement it still shows as being applied. Maybe a case of diferent depts not knowing what other is doing?
Keep a record anyway and then at least you know where you stand in future.
Good luck with doing your own DMP, DH is just entering into that so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Thanks I will keep all the letters anyway and see what happens in time.

  • Hi Folks - lovely to read the postings of so many like-minded people on this thread :D I particularly had a laugh at the cheap toilet roll - I have just ordered a pack of 12 Asda Smart Price loo roll - very pleased with myself - I await the family's comments :D I bought Smart Price dishwasher tablets too - anyone any experience of these??? I know it sounds a bit mad but I am actually quite enjoying seeking out these bargains - makes me feel that I am leaving behind the old me who always knew if I overspent there was credit there to bail me out

As said above holidays are going to be the hard part - I think we all need something to look forward to but next year is going to be very different for us. We are used to our holidays every year and the odd weekend away but now realise unless we save, it's not going to happen. I think it'll be a week at my auntie's down south, but saying that, as a child they were some of my best holidays.

Glad to hear you've heard from the CCCS DebtDaisy. Did you ask them to return your payslips etc.? I forgot to but would like them back in case I need them for anything else. I got my invoice in from Freemans today and it requests three months payments in the usual format but if in arrears there is usually an extra paragraph saying you must pay xx amount by xx, bla blah - however nothing on this - hoping this is a good sign and they've read my DMP letter...watch this space...
No more credit for me - I will no longer live beyond my means :A

Good luck with the Asda smartprice loo rolls hope the family approve!
I know what you mean about getting a certain thrill about seeking out bargains, in a way it makes me feel really superior than if i'd spent twice as much on same product!
Me and DH were discussing holidays earlier and have made a pact that we will definately have one next year but only if we can actually SAVE the money for it, something unheard of for us.

Maybe only camping in this country for a few days but the main thing is it WON'T be on credit.:j

By the way I think CCCS sent my payslips etc back without me asking if I remember rightly.

  • Ooooooh now look what I have started? :p I'll be known as the DMP'er with the sore bum from now on :rotfl: I sounded so depressed last night, I get so up and down at times, I'm ok honest but sometimes I just want to buy one of those magic wands (everywhere seems to have sold out at the mo :p ) other times I really feel like I don't give a toss about the debt as long as I have food, heat etc.

It's great to read on here people's little general everyday stories though it definitely cheers me up when I read them. I know what the forum stands for and what the title of this thread is and it's great to know the support is out there, we all need a little laugh now and again so I'm glad it made some of you laugh out loud about the value loo roll. :D

The last time I spoke to CCCS to have our latest review and start a joint DMP, the lady told me that they get a copy of everything the creditor sends to you. I suppose this is to make sure that you don't blag that you haven't received anything from the debts. I wanted to know when you get contacted by different companies in different places for the same debt demanding money who exactly do you deal with or pay? I said surely you get confirmation of the original creditor to say it has been passed on otherwise you'll end up making payments to anyone and that could be a right mess?
Thats when she said CCCS get a copy of everything, so if you are worried about a letter that you have received I wouldn't bother sending it on to CCCS (can you imagine their postbag if we all did that?) I'm quite sure they know more about the creditor letters you get than what you think. But if anyone is worried then give them a call they are really nice and will give assurance on thinks like that.

Ooooooh a holiday, if only but I really hope work situation is ok for OH, I'm sure there are some really great bargains to be had at home (just hope the weather is better next year than this one we've had!!) I can't do the Sun newspaper hols for £9.50 because I work in a school (can't get time off) and they offer the holidays out of season, which is a shame cause I would go, the reviews seem ok and for the price you can't really expect too much like gold taps in the caravan etc.

Britain has some really lovely places to visit and I suspect most go abroad for the sun. It's definitely not for the entertainment, I think we beat abroad everytime for kids clubs, shows etc at night it's just such a shame about the weather, Britain is great if you get the sun, if you don't forget it!. Anyway current situation if majority of people stay at home and holiday here that would help boost the economy a bit.

take care and keep supporting each other xxx

Came home today to find a letter from HSBC about my credit card. Basically said that the £75 a month CCCS were offering is not enough and asking for reduced payments of £96 a month paid direct to them.

Think I just need to ignore this letter, but do you think I should pass it on to CCCS or email them and let them know about it?

    Hi andreweduk,

If I was you I'd call CCCS and if in the mean time you get any correspondance from HSBC let them know that you have passed this information to CCCS and that they will deal with them in due course. They will always try something to get more but CCCS will deal with this. Don't make an outside agreement as this breaks the T&C's of your CCCS agreement I believe.

    Hey Toffee Penny
I know in my last post I may have sounded a bit down on holidaying in this country, camping etc, but actually some of our best holidays have been here.
Camping is one of our favourite things to do, this year has been a wash out for it, but we went to yorkshire around may time and had the most glorious few days, gorgeous weather, totally chilled.
Money probs started after this and it seems like a lifetime ago now, but I really feel we are starting to get back on track now.
We have decided tonight for DH to try and negotiate directly with his creditors for reduced payments, (self employed so difficult to go via cccs) so we'll see how that goes.

  • Just wanted to add that most of the creditors have send us defaults now although why they make it sound like they have handed you the death sentence I don't know :rotfl: Anyway it is standard practice and if your credit rating is shot to pieces, which most of us will admit it is, then it's a good thing you get them asap really.

Finally Halifax have stopped interest and charges by the looks of things on the latest credit card statement. I was going to do one of those jumping smileys but they have added almost a £1000 on with interest, charges etc since starting the DMP so we owe alot more than when we started. BUT thing to remember is at least its a start now, they didn't have to stop interest so should be grateful that they have.

Capital One are just bloody taking the mick at the moment, their latest statement still shows them charging PPI, 3 months after the start of my DMP and 3 months after making reduced payments to them. Surely they should have cancelled by now????? I'm sure they do it just to make you mad so you'll phone them and speak to them.

MBNA , Next and Barclaycard have stopped interest too Monument who are the same as Barclays (I think) are still charging interest (work that one out same company duh!!)

Littlewoods/Great Universal getting on my nerves charging me £12 fees I feel a CCA letter coming on just to take the mick out of them so they agree to my DMP payments and not charge nowt.

Do creditors still keep sending statements as normal every month, I dont seem to be getting them that regularly anymore.
Also I had to talk to CCCS the other day and the guy told me to contact each one and ask for an up to date balance.
Is this right should I do this?

  • Hello to everyone else btw, Kudox, Toffee Penny, Ruthie, and all others am yet to speak with :) I hope everyone is having a good day :) I had a fabulous email at work today whilst on the whole complaining about the customer service us dealing with debt types get- as in the rudeness we receive when we rightly say that we don't want an OD etc (see earlier posts) anyways my email said you know those annoying pre approved bank loan, credit card and just generally annoying junk letters we get- well although I make sure I shread them someone has suggested sending the companies an empty enevelope (that they usually include) back to them! this actually costs the company money! Obviously just don't send any personal information but think how frustrated this companies will be when they rececive a whole stack of empty envelopes?! Sorry another silly rant there and I don't think people have the time anyhows but just a suggestion!! lol

Ruthie- CCCS sent all my info back as in payslips etc, I was quite chuffed too becuase they have increased some of my budget or suggested that i have more which I was quite happy about as was very strict in the original! They also pointed out that I am on the wrong tax code and that hopefully if I have it corrected i am looking to receive around £60 ish more a month which would mean hopefully I can put more money in to plan and reduce that quite frankly scary end date! But will keep updated with what's happening.

I am thinking about teaching myself meditation...that way I can pretend i am on my all inclusive holiday in Barbados when the summer hols come around next year!! :)

Thanks for the laughs guys. xx DD

Judging by the amount of people on here on DMP's, I'd say they have ran out of printer ink :rotfl:
