Sorry for being a dunce, but I need to transfer my wage and direct debits over to my new 'safe' bank account, from one of my creditors.

Obviously the wage is easily enough transferred over, however, my question is, Is it ok to use the Account Transfer Mandate form provided by the new bank (They request a list of Direct Debits), or will my creditor get shirty with this, in which case, should I transfer the DDs over manually myself?

    Thanks in advance!

    I am not sure sorry!

I did mine all myself because I tried to stretch things out and miss a month like on the gas and electricity and I wanted to make sure I had enough money in new account and did not go overdrawn.

Hopefully someone who did it the way you are saying can answer your question.

I did mine myself because I wanted to make sure my credit card direct debits didn't get transferred over - as obviously I wasn't going to be paying them after starting the DMP. I basically used online banking to cancel each direct debit the day after the payment was made and (after I was sure I'd be paid into the new account) then rang up the people I paid by DD to say I have a new bank and please can I set up details - this made sure they had nearly a month to set up the correct details and made sure that I was in control of it all.

No-one questioned the fact I'd changed my bank and everything went very smoothly.

Well I have my OWL Energy consumption meter today and have shocked myself on what we waste! So gone round switching bits off and labelling plugs up. I don't mind paying for electric we benefit from but from things that are off but switched on at mains I am not paying anymore! Anyway at installation point it was 5.981p and it came down just switching unnecessary things off down to 2.221p. Not till you what its at now caus the tumble dryer is on!

Thanks you two, It does make sense to do it that way (I just have a lot of DDs!).

Don't forget you don't need to transfer anything that will be included in the DMP though - for me that was half of them ;)

My list was huge too, now its my standing order list that is higher with all the savings and creditors to pay (as I run my own DMP) but its a good time to check what you pay and if you can cut down, shop better etc.

It was from the ethical superstore which I went through quidco to get 10% off and it was £29.99 its not the poshiest it does not store data just shows you real time. But you can put the £ per hour in, set alarms if it goes over an amount you don't like. It also for some reason has temperature and humidty on it, probably to help with heat settings - I am still getting used to it but it was simple to instore, ie, I did it! :)

    Hi all

Never heard of the "Owl" before. Very intersting indeed. Off to golf soon and then chill for the evening.

Hope you all have a good day
