Nationwide - Maximum withdrawal abroad

Does anyone know how much you can withdraw from an ATM in Portugal each day using a nationwide debit card?

Euros 200 is the max single withdrawal. You may be able to put your card in and have a second try for more, but I've never done it.

I was getting 300 euros daily from the Multibanco cash machines located throughout Portugal. Summer 2007. I don't think it has changed and as far as I know they don't charge for you to withdraw your money either.

You can withdraw the equivalent of £300 per day, twice that it if is a joint account and you each withdraw equiv £300.

Depending on the exchange rate on the day you should be able to withdraw around €370.

I don't believe that is correct. You can withdraw £300 per day, or it's equivalent, per account - unless it's changed, then I'm wrong. I use the Nationwide abroad several times a year and between us we have never been able to draw more than £300. Hope I'm wrong though!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called the Nationwide before a visit to Las Vegas and was told it was £300 max per day. I specifically asked about using two separate cards on a joint account and was told we could withdraw £300 each per day. The lady actually went and checked with someone else while I was on the phone to confirm that what she was telling us was correct.

I can confirm that this is right because we both managed to withdraw $600 in one day!

Luci I could never get $600 out in one go and I bet I used the same ATM as you...In March in the Casino Royale (only $1 fee:j ) The most it would let me have was $520 or $550 cant remember exactly but the exchange rate was around 1.98 so it should have been nearer to $600 but it wasnt:confused:

Yep it was Casino Royale with the lovely $1 transaction fee!

I have just checked my statement online as I was starting to doubt myself.

On 2 November 2007 there are TWO identical transactions for $601 each at $2.081 and they cost £288.74 each. Next day I withdrew another $300 and got $2.085.

Interesting answers. I've been to Portugal six times in the last three years (I have friends living there) and never been able to get more than 200 out at anyone time! I travel to Europe about 10 times a year, and have never had the problem elsewhere - obviously it must just be me!
