Does anyone know if it's safe to use a polti on laminate flooring or would they get too wet ?

I use my steam cleaner on my laminate floor whenever I've got it out to do the carpets on the stairs & in the bedrooms. It doesn't leave it as wet as a mop does in my opinion.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Monkeyboy. Not having a steam trigger on the Earlex is a prob I have too. tried the hand held jobbies and they are no good either. I had to refill mine three times to clean my kitchen so I now use the Earlex and put up with the turkish bath atmosphere

Totally agree with the turkish bath atmosphere when using the earlex lol. I gave the bathroom a good route out with it when i first got it and came out seven stones lighter! With regard to the laminate floor issue, I would have thought the steam would go between the joints and possibly swell the mdf and therefore cause the laminate to buckle. I would advise not to use it on laminate and if your steam cleaner is as good as my earlex its not much better on the carpets either, mine is used for cleaning the kitchen and bathroom tiles (occasionally) stripping wallpaper and did a great job on defrosting the freezer before we purchased a frost free fridge-freezer. They also perform well on greasy oven surfaces. The earlex would definitely benefit from a on/off trigger!

  • I hardly ever use mine because it's too much hassle and doesn't clean the gunge off my cooker that well :-/ (maybe starting with less gunge would be good)

but when I do use it, I boil the water in a kettle to fill it which speeds up the water heating process from unbearably slow to acceptable.
  • I got mine for about £30 from Woolies and hardly ever use it, it's great for wallpaper stripping but how often do you do that?

I never really have grunge building up long enough anywhere to use it, and the masses of steam it produces is most unwelcome in my tiny flat which is very prone to condensation anyway.

I found it doesn't do a great deal to the carpet, but it is ok for freshening them up now and then and raising the nap, plus the carpet attachment has a cloth which absorbs steam so you don't get the turkish bath atmosphere.
  • Hi Guys,

I bought a steam cleaner, it's ok but i should have bought the one with the button to push the steam out when i want. Anyway a friend of mine give me a little tip. He said he uses one of the aromair blends in his steam cleaner on his carpers and car seat. So i tried one of the blends he had spearmint by gum. And my carpets was smelling like spearmint. No joke man this is some cool sh** going on. :j. All i can say is give it a go. Steam clean the and you get spearmint coming out as mist. kids were loving it for real.

    See yah laters peeple.

I have the £300 Polti. It does do what it says on the box, but the number of times I've used it in the 10 years I've owned it is in the single figures.

I'm about to clean my bathroom and shower room tiles with it and I know it will be a fabulous job, but it was very expensive for what it is.

I know someone who swears by the steam iron attachment though.

i had a little one that cost around £20. I liked it but I dropped it so now I've got to use elbow grease instead. May replace it after reading these posts.
