Hi guys,

im looking to buy 2 Nokia 1100 mobile phones (preferably new and boxed) for my parents for christmas. Theyre not the best when it comes to technology and I'm looking to spend no more than £25 each on them as this is a pretty basic phone - sim free would be best as Ive already got them 2 x O2 sim cards with the £10 a month for 300 texts etc.

Im not adverse to considering another type of phone though and Im reluctant to go on ebay as i'd like them to be boxed with instructions since they will NEED them on xmas day lol. Basically a decent phone for under £30 each. Suppose I could use some online codes etc to take the price down!

Im planning to make up some pretty boxes with presents (stocking stylee) for everyone since we're all over 18 now

loving the boards guys - thanks in advance!

Try Dixons or currys for £24.97

You could try Ebay as many of the phones are brand new but they seem to go for more than £25.

They are really easy to unlock just ask in the mobiles board.

  • Tescos have reduced the price of the 1100 on Virgin to 15 quid. Not many to be found in stock though.

Dont knock the phone, it's a lovely little phone. Nice size, and very good battery life.

These new fangled phones with colour screens and more useless features you can shake a stick at are a waste of time and money. Go for the 1100 - you will not regret it.
  • BTW... unlocking the Virgin 1100's is quite tricky (the default settings in Nokia unlockers don't work).

    www.virginmobile.com/lifestylerewards

1100 come with £25 credit included, £5 on the sim & £20 top up included in box so

    2 x 26.99 = £53.98, buy another 2 £10 top for each (will explain!!)

£73.98 in total but after you spend £30 in top-ups Virgin unlock your handset for free! (and these are not easy to unlock as Nicktooth says)

so £73.98 for two unlocked 1100's and and £70 of credit between the 2 sims

total cost 3.98 for two unlocked 1100's ;)

run out the credit urself or port the numbers to o2 when your mum & dad spend the £35 if they want to keep the same numbers
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me

thanks guys, ive had a look around, although the virgin one sounds brilliant, i know if i out that much credit on it they'll lose it so im going to investigate the tescos £15 offer. Maybe ebay - any other phones which are cheap and cheerful going atm? any suggestions? thanks guys - this is so helpful! :)
