Now the stupid answers are out of the way, take a look HERE not a satnav but you already have 2 of those so this should sort the speed problem for you.

Surely yours is the most stupid post, as anyone who is prepared to risk their licence on the strength of a gadget, deserves to lose it.

Perhaps the OP really needs to go here.

Those locations aren't random. And are in the public domain .Therefore a list of those locations is downloaded as well as for fixed that are turned or moved .
When I first got my Tomtom, I tried these such lists, and put on audible warnings and went for a drive to see what they were like, how accurate they were..etc.

After about 15mins I had to turn them back off, because the possible speed camera sites are everywhere. It was going off with a warning every 20-30 seconds on some roads, because there had been a mobile one there recently, or might be a mobile one there tomorrow.

The easiest way is still to leave in plenty of time, concentrate on driving, etc.
I travel about a lot in my job, and it took me a long time to learn to tell my employers where to go when they complained at how long it took me to get from one place to another at the limit, compared to when they did it (speeding).

If you don't have cruise control, dropping a gear (or two) also helps.
Trying to drive at 30mph in 4th/5th involves a lot more checking of your speedo.
I mean surely cruise control only helps if it's an empty (or continuously moving) street? If you have to speed up or slow down to allow for other cars/pedestrians, it wouldn't help you.

If i'm physically in a town, then theres no point, but then less chance to break the speed limit anyway.

its more in the roads around the town centres that are a problem for me (and also where most cameras will be set up), whereby your speed can easily slip to the wrong side of 30mph, and using cruise control helps me in those circumstances.

THANKYOU for your most helpful post 'espresso' , just dont forget when you get flashed !
  • be aware that when going round bends, the sat nav will give an inaccurate speed reading, and many speed cameras are placed on or right at the end of bends.

Another 3 points looming, or are we referring to handsfree? Personally, if I don't know the road limit, I assume it's 30 - got too close to a full 12 points several years back.

My tomTom 6 Navigator flahes the actual speed in RED Digits if I exceed the limits (so I read about anyway lol!!)

There is no audible sign but the flashing speed in RED should give it away.

Check the Preferences => Status Bar Preferences and check SPEED to make sure current speed is displayed.

I used to drive a van in my last job - lots of motorway driving etc. The company at some point invested in a TomTom One V3 for each of its drivers and it did exactly what you're looking for. If I was on a motorway and accidentally drifted over 70, the TomTom would emit a loud honking noise (you can change the moise it makes to whatever you want) and flash the speed up on the screen, thereby allowing me to come back down to the required speed. You can also set the level of tolerance, so it can warn you if you go 10mph over, or 1mph over.

I believe pocketgpsworld also do a speed camera subscription service.

Please note as others have said, this system is not 100% accurate, and if you drive in an area like the M25, you will get very annoyed by the amount of speed camera warnings you get.

I'd also like to point out that I don't actively speed, ad don't enjoy driving over the speed limit. I used this feature as an extra "failsafe" for those times when my attention was more on the road/hazards than my speed.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
