Lol I've read lots of posts online about how large it is. I don't know. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. It'll be bigger than my piddly little 15 inch monitor that's for sure. Just for kicks I've bought the mini dvi -> dvi adapater and a dvi -> hdmi cable to see how it'll look on my plasma. Hope it works!0

I have a Macbook and I love it. It's so much simple to use than Windows.. and so much prettier:beer:0

I'm quite happy with my 20" iMac but my wife says she be happier if I had another 4".
Don't forget with the external display adaptor that you can chose either separate or mirrored screens. Right now my daughter is using the iMac with a smaller 17" monitor running as a separate screen where she can keep a close eye on her Skype and MSN while web surfing. Mirroring is useful when you are hooking up a projector - something I do all the time at work when I deliver a presentation.0 -
i've been a mac user for over 10 years...
yeah.. i've got currently a 24" imac, with a 20" dual screen running on it.. the 24" screen is huge, but absolutely wonderful..
along with a macbook pro for my laptop, my mum has a macbook, and my sister has my old powerbook.. i still use windows for work, and my web dev, just to check that IE doesn't screw up my programming..
i've never had many issues with macs crashing, yes they can.. but probably a lot less than windows...

The reason Viruses are made for PCs and not Macs is that hackers know that Mac owners got screwed at purchase anyway...
That was a joke BTW, hope you enjoy your new purchase.. virus free! There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

I've had it a few times but I make sure I install the software updates and it runs pretty well0 -
Well done, you made the right choice
(Fanboy alert). People often say "why do computers have to be such a pain in the tush?" - they don't. The Mac proves that you can actually... horror of horrors... enjoy using a computer!
This is speaking as someone who has been tinkering with computers since 4 years old (now 26). They are such a joy to use in comparison to PCs it's unbelievable. I'm the same as toasterman in that I support PCs for a living nowadays - whilst I used to love computer tinkering as a hobby, now that it's my job the last thing I want to do when I get home is battle with them some more. I don't have anything to prove, so I'd rather the computer was a means to an end at home and not the end itself.
I've done Linux, too. It's cool, far cooler than Windows, but boy is it a battle and a half. Mac OS X lets you have the cake and eat it.
You do go through a bit of a learning curve coming from Windows, as some of the Mac ways are quite different. But this can really be made much easier by buying one of the great books out there written especially for 'switchers', or even just for Macs in general. The Missing Manual gets some great reviews. Once you get used to it you'll probably find yourself several times more productive than on a PC. And yes, they're pretty also
While I remember there's one gotcha that sometimes trips up the newbies - don't try to merge the contents of a folder by dropping that folder onto another one of the same name. When it says overwrite, it means overwrite, so if you expect it to merge you will lose data. Most people don't do that anyway, but it caught me out once and it pops up now and again on Mac forums.
Everyone gives the usual positives about Macs - the stability, lack of malware/viruses, joy to use etc. There's one thing they forget: shareware. I can hear the groans from MoneySavers already - "Pay for software? When I can use Open Source stuff or freeware or pirate Photoshop?" ... Too right. The quality and support that comes out of Mac shareware developers is outstanding, and it's amazing what they come up with. I now have so much decent registered shareware on the Mac that I feel like my arm has been chopped off when using a PC.
Oh, also some PC users think Macs are dumbed-down. Not at all. They just work a lot smarter. Why make something more trouble than it needs to be?
Anyway enough rambling. You made the right decision with the 24" too, as it has a much better screen than the 20. Happy Mac'ing!
PS. Hi mobIf you're the same one I knew from DB.
