Have you got it sorted yet, Rev?
Ive had to put it on the back-burner due to a rather large bill coming this month :( but have been checking the various known avenues for a deal that may be too good to pass up (thanks for the tips Leopard!). My local laptop repair place in town has refused it, saying it's too specialist for them :rotfl: so will have to wait until I can get it to the local Mac specialist for a diagnostics. Finances allowing, of course! Need to put in a request with the big man for a financial blessing :A ;)

This made me laugh. Don't know what that says about me, but there you are.

It says you've been having too many drinks and/or curries with Bill Gates.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

    *Update*

Due to aforementioned bill have been searching for cheap/easy fixes or tests I can do to restore the old iBook before replacing it with a newer model (thus, hopefully getting some money back for it too!?), and tried Single User Mode (Shift-s on reboot) which is a Mac equivelant to Safe Mode and it ran last night without any kernel panics...software issue then?! So despite wiping the HDD and rebooting from the origional Mac disks it has a software issue? The other possible issue could still be with the Airport card as Single User Mode doesnt connect Airport.

    Any other suggestions guys?

Am busy tonight and tomorrow eve, but will be attempting a fix at the weekend... :D

    *Update II* (if anyone cares!)

After some more investigation work, including plenty of single user mode and verbose mode tests, it has been assumed to be the Airport extreme card. It works fine now it's been wiped, re-installed with OS-X 10.4.12 and connected to the hub via ethernet (with airport disabled), so will be looking for a new Airport card. Have learned lots over these weeks, and a big thanks to Leopard and Markymoo for your contributions and patience while I sort this out rather slowly! Will hopefully be posting from my iBook again soon!

Cool, so it *was* the last remaining removable card in the end. Glad to hear you got it going :T

You can probably just use a USB Wifi adaptor if you don't fancy ripping the whole book apart to the last screw to replace the internal card. Most of them are Mac compatible these days.

Was considering that, but want to keep it 'original' if poss, and makes it easier to sell later should I go down that route... ;) it is a pig to get to though :( anyone else with any advice? Ive been informed it may even be a logic-board connection problem, so a new Extreme card may not fix it? Any way to test the Extreme card in-situ? (Have tried hardware test and finds no faults).

Any suggestions if I go down this route? There's a Belkin one for about £12.
