I want a really GOOD phone, not necessarily the latest one

I want a new phone, and I want a good'un, but I know nothing of phones and in the past have tended to ascociate the latest releases with the best phones.
Slowly, however, I am learning that this is not the case.

Thus I need your help!

icon_arrow.gif Forget huge resolution cameras - I just want one that takes good pictures (one of my old phones takes much clearer photos than my current 3250, which has a 3mp camera and takes horrid, grainy shots unless the sun is shining brightly).
icon_arrow.gif So long as I can shove a decent sized memory into it to keep a few tunes and videos on, it needen't have bells and whistles.
icon_arrow.gif It must have a radio (but are there any that don't now anyway?!), take photos and videos, play music and be fun to play with when I'm bored. I would prefer something that doesn't resemble a brick as much as my current mobly, slidey or flippy phones have appeal...

If anyone has any suggestions I would be stupendously grateful, because I'm having a hard time sifting through the handsets myself...icon_confused.gif

I love my Sony Ericsson K750i - it has a good and easy to use 3mp camera, takes memory cards which go up to about 2Gb, has an FM radio (although I don't use this so can't comment on the quality) takes videos, comes with a few games (depending on the network the phone is on/was when it was new - but you can download games for free online) and has an mp3-player type thing built in. I don't think it plays WMAs but not many phones do. The battery also lasts for ages compared to a lot of newer models.

I think it looks quite smart, but it's not a flip or slide phone, just a simple brick type I'm afraid - I prefer these as I've heard the wires inside the flip/slide ones get stressed in the joins and it shortens the life of the phone. The speaker phone isn't very loud, (Fine for in the house etc but not in the car when you're on the motorway - then again I am a bit deaf!) but it comes with a discreet hands free set out of the box, which can also be worn in 2 ears to act as headphones & FM aerial.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

the LG Viewty (KU990) is freaking amazing.
camera is great (for a phone), has lots to play with, super fast internet access, and the screen is superb.
can you tell I like mine :p
    would thoroughly recommend ;)

  • Are you looking at buying one sim free or are you eligible for an upgrade?

Since a decent (if not top spec) camera is your main requirement, a SE cybershot model makes a lot of sense. The new C902 model is 5MP, optimised for imaging with autofocus, flash and with a lens that is concealed when not in use, and is very slim. It also packs a MP3 player and radio in too.

Another for the K750i or if you need to be on a 3G network, the k800i.

As previous posters have said - K750i is great. Memory sticks are also pretty cheap now.

The camera on the cybershot-branded SE K800i is very good IMO.
And it has a radio, and they're quite cheap now.

It takes Memorystick m2 cards, which can go up to reasonable sizes...2, 4, and 8gb I can see by a quick google search.
I've never actually used it for music though because I have an iPod, so I can't tell you how good it is at that.
