I want to replace my old windows with upvc windows.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I know there is Everest, Coral & Safestyle that are the big ones.
Any advice would be appreciated.

When Which? magazine looked at windows they found that the most satisfied people were ones who had used local family firms.0

When I had mine done I looked around the local area to see who else was having theirs done, and if I liked the look of their windows I made a note of the company name. I also had safestyle in, because they happened to phone exactly when I was looking.
I was getting a grant for the windows, so needed all quotes in writing. When Safestyle came round they refused point-blank to do a quote in writing, and were unaware I was in a conservation area, so had to have a specific style of window despite claiming the reason they could do me a deal was because they were doing other houses in the road! They left pretty darn fast when I said I wouldn't consider anything without the quote in writing! Left me with the impression they were a total bunch of con-artists.
Local firms much much better - particularly in my case when it meant they had experience of getting the correct permissions in our local area. In the end, although it's a trial to get these people into the house to do the quotes, but it actually helps you as well to be able to get a feel for the people you'll be dealing with. I found them very variable in types of quote - how much detail they give you - some did drawings, some just gave a flat figure, but all came in at about the same price.0 -
A good local company, seek recommendations.;)

Thanks for the replies

I have been reading about windows and wondered if I should get trickle vents on the windows? Should you get these on every window?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

always remember average windows installed by good fitters are a better bet than good windows fitted by crap fitters0

Do them yourself!! Windows are fairly straightforward. I have just replaced the two in my bathroom in less than a day and cost about £340 all in for the pair. Much cheaper thasn a firm and I KNOW they have been done right!;):D0
