  • Hi
Hoping someone may know the answer!
I am jsut in the process of booking to go to disneyland for an Easter break this year, and will be paying for the Eurotunnel with deals vouchers (currently waiting for the vouchers to arrive so that I can book).
My question is.... Does anyone know if any of the restaurant/food vouchers can be used in France? ie the Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge, La Tasca etc. We have not been to France before so not sure what there is, but did wonder if it is possible to convert tesco vouchers into food tokens to cover some meals out whilst we are away.
Would be very grateful if anyone knows.
    Many thanks

PS If anyone else would like to know how I booked the Eurotunnel with the vouchers etc, I would be pleased to help.

    Hi Swannee

Yes you can. Just send them back to Tesco Clubcard with a covering letter explaining you would like them credited back. You will then see them in May's mailing,

I sent some back that had expired in August 2008 and I got a lovely letter back saying they had been credited back to me and they wre sorry to hear that I had been unable to use them.

Like many others, we have been savings our points diligently over the past year and a half and taken advantage of the many 1000 point offers, usually using them twice in both accounts. We had been eying up a holiday with Virgin to Sri Lanka and Maldives from the start and we have just ordered for the deals which give us £1700 off our holiday!

This will be the last time I do this, as I have found that I can't get 10% off for using my Virgin Creditcard, can't get 5% off for booking online, plus can't get 10% as Virgin have a sale at the moment.

So just for the sake of using my Clubcard deals I'm losing out to 25% discount I would have received if I wasn't using the deals. In the end the holiday is quite expensive (£5300), so using the deals still works out cheaper, but certainly feel conned a little.

Also, it's been a week since ordering the deals and not even dispatched yet. When I rang Tesco they said that due to the high value they have additional security checks. Anyone has experienced this? They' better honour the deals!!

I am in agreement with you, I wish I had checked out how much the holidays would cost with Cosmos using my vouchers before I ordered them from Tesco. It is a con to say they are worth 4x their face value, when in reality they may only be worth double at best.

I have today tried to book a holiday for the family in the Algarve through Cosmos. The online price (which included all supplements etc - I went all they way through booking online to the point of payment) was; £1479

The Brouchure price which you are told is the price you will pay, worked out at £1532 including supplements.

Trying to book over the phone with Cosmos using Tesco vouchers and the price leaps to £2080 ! Over £600 more than it would cost me to book at the same moment on-line on Cosmos website!

I have £1150 towards this in vouchers, but in reality this is only saving me £550 towards the holiday at the price you have to pay with tokens. Still a saving for me, but if I only had £250 of cashed in vouchers towards the holiday I would be much worse off, to the tune of costing me an extra £300!

I rang back again and asked for a qoute for the same holiday, not mentioning tesco vouchers, and this time was quoted £1818, (£339 more than booking online) when I asked if I could use tesco vouchers towards it, the sales girl said the price would be different and quoted me the £2080 again, another £262 more for using the vouchers!

    So to sum up;
    Holiday booking online £1479
    Brochure price (including supplements) £1532
Holiday booking over phone - no vouchers £1818
Holiday booking over phone - with vouchers £2080

Difference between booking online and booking over phone with vouchers £601 !!!!

This must be a good con for Tesco and Cosmos, how can thet get away with these differences in price? I wish Tesco & Comos could answer me that!

well something is wrong then, as you should pay no more than brochure price - or is there a few for booking over the phone - i would ask for a break-down, just so you can be sure you are getting like for like

but as said before, unless you have more or less the full cost of the holiday in vouchers, then it isnt worth using them

But, people still seem to dismiss the fact that the tesco deals have cost you nothing. so when you quote the above figures you have to actually deduct the value of the deals off the price, not work off the difference in price, between what it would cost if you could get it at online price, vesus deals prices by phone

ie, if you book the holiday online for cash it will cost you £1479 - use your vouchers and you only need to pay £930 cash - so you still think its cheaper to buy the holiday online, rather than use deals???

You need to add on at least the face value of the original Clubcard tokens that could have bought shopping at Tesco. So £1150 of holiday vouchers cost the equivalent £287.50 of Tesco shopping.

Therefore, it is £1479 for cash or £1217.50 in vouchers.

Not sure if I have come to the right place, but my brother has given £150 worth of clubcard vouchers - worth £600 in deals (he lives abroad and says he has no use for them), but I notice that when I look to see what we can do with them, they all say non transferable and will have the name/postcode on them. Obviously, his name is different to mine since I married many moons ago, so am I able to use them or not?

Many thanks for any help you are able to give.
