I got my Clubcard vouchers today. Attached are some vouchers to use in store, however, (and this has probably been covered before), what's happened to the extra points you get when you buy a certain item? They've given me 6 money off vouchers, ie, 35p off PG Tips, but I much preferred the extra points when you bought something. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I had a till spit either.

Is this the shape of things to come, only collecting points on the price of your shopping and and no extra points offers? I remember Sainsbury's used to have extra points on loads of things, however, this fell by the wayside when they realised the amount of points customers could collect. Looks like Tesco's going the same way. Shame because it's probably the only reason I shop at Tesco (with an occasional detour to Asda to look at the children's clothes).

It's going to take me a lot longer to save for that holiday now...
It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?

I think a lot of people are thinking the same as you, myself included. The points were the reason I started shopping there years ago- and then when the kiddies came along, it was an even better reason to shop there. We were getting coupons for 150 points when you buy Pampers, 125 points when you buy Huggies wipes, 500 points when you spend over £20 in the Baby Department. This was a fabulous incentive for us to shop there as we were getting rewarded for buying the products which we would have bought regrdless.

Now that there's not many opportunities for extra bonus points, I have been contemplating going elsewhere as there are better deals to be had at other supermarkets on certain items. (although it probably won't happen, for convenience sake )

I have noticed the same with Boots Advantage Card Scheme over the last few months. Is this perhaps the direction that all leading stores are heading towards, with the tightening of loyaly schemes/bonuses? Just my opinion, but perhaps in the long-run they could be shooting themselves in the foot if a lot of people feel this way? I know their have been many posts sharing similar views to this recently.

Aparently, their reasoning behind the sudden hold-back, is that the customer would prefer money off their shopping rather than collecting points. I for one, am certainly not one of those people. Out of curiosity......... is there anyone here who would prefer 50p off something, as opposed to 50 extra points when you buy xxx?

well i used to prefer having 50p off, and just saw the points i got from my shopping as a bonus. however having studied all the options, points are worth so much more. 50p off, means your total shop is lower, and you therefore get less points overall too - so getting a bonus 50points, really equates to 51p in clubcard points, and £2.04 in deals - so if you think about it logically, 50p off an item or £2.04 to spend elsewhere, i know what id rather have

You do actually get points on your shopping subtotal before MOC Flea.

For example today I did a £59 shop. After staff discount and money off coupons I paid £45 however I got 59 points + some extra green points for bag reuse.

Yes, I completely agree with you- that was my point too. You just explained it more fully than I did, as I assumed people would understand what I meant.

Looking forward to Statement coming through, as last time, the vouchers I received were of no interest ie. £2.00 off WYS £10.00 on frozen meat (I don't but my meat in Tesco) 25p off some yogurt or other. None were for extra points anyway

Will post when (or if) I get it. :rotfl:
(Haven't had post for a week, because we have over 2 feet of snow, and it's currently -19 degrees, no joke)
  • We do our main shop at another store as our Tesco is a metro size and doesn't stock nappie brands etc we usually buy.

    Anyway, we got:

    25 extra points on apples
25 extra points on fresh beef
25 extra points when spending 2.00 on the tesco value range
25 extra points on fresh eggs
    10p off a resusable bag.

    Then the win voucher

Really good as it's bits that you'd buy anyway. Don't understand why others are getting the money off coupons.
We only got 7.00 in vouchers though, not sure if that's relevent
