Amazon Delivery

Options
Hi All. I bought a printer which was in stock off Amazon on the evening of 11th June. I opted for Super Fast Free Delivery thinking it'd take a week maximum. I've looked at the order and it says that the dispatch date is between the 19th and the 25th June! If it arrives on the 25th that's almost two weeks. How can that be Super Fast? I could walk to get it quicker than that! The maximum it should take after it's been dispatched should be 6 working days. By their reckoning it's possibly going to be 4 or 5 days before it's even dispatched. Are Amazon normally this useless? Super Fast Delivery to me doesn't mean taking two weeks to get your goods.

I think the option you are meaning is Super Saver Free Delivery which takes 2 -4 days longer than first class delivery which it states when you are ordering - this is the option I have chosed for an amazon delivery which has an estimated despatch date of today and arrival next week sometime

Yeah that'd be the one lol. It's a bit early in the morning for me to be remembering the finer details correctly. ;) First Class is only supposed to take 1-2 days, so if you take the longest length that it could take with First Class, i.e. 2 days, and the longest it could take with the Super Saver, i.e. 4 days, that's six days. That means they're estimating that it could take another 4 days just to dispatch the item out. I've not counted weekends either.

Well it is free, and it does take longer that way. If you wanted it faster you should have paid for a quicker delivery.

    Aren't you the clever one.

If I'd have know that it might take them four days to get the printer, put it in a box and address it, I might have used a different company completely. They've already billed me too, whereas I've made a few online orders from companies recently and they've not billed me until it's been dispatched.

Yep, that's how it works ;) The 4 days for Amazon to despatch is about what they say. AFAIK, they despatch the Speedy Delivery items first, then the free delivery once they're done. I've always used the free delivery and been pleasantly surprised as to how quick it is :T

When you buy something, you get an instant e-mail with the times of despatch and delivery clearly marked. I always check that, and if it doesn't suit, I cancel instantly :D

Amazon definetly don't bill until it's dispatched... I've used them a lot of times.

I have mixed experience with Amazon and billing - I've found for smaller things, books, dvd's etc, they don't bill my card straight away. When I bought a laptop from them, they billed my card instantly. Strange.

The free delivery isn't actually that bad; I've often received things within a couple of days.

I've often been pleasantly surprised by how fast the free super-saver delivery is

but I expect it all depends how busy they are at the time you order, & how much demand there is for the item you want

I always find that with the super saver free delivery, it often arrives way before their estimated date.

If they put the estimated delivery date earlier and it arrived late, then they'd no doubt get people complaining, but this way it's unlikely that someone will complain if something arrives early.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I've been using Amazon for years and choose what delivery suits me and my purse at the time. I must say that I have never ever had a problem with them... I've even taken to ordering shoes thru them!

Good service as far as I am concerned.
