The only people I know at the moment who are putting on surcharges on charter flights are goldentrail for September & October Bookings.. but they are also by far the cheapest... so maybe thats why.

Goldtrail stung us for £36 fuel surcharge for our August flight, then cancelled the flight! now trying to re-book flight..........at different airport.....a real pain

goldtrail are charging for any flight leaving after the 23rd june, least thats what they have told the company i work for to charge for!

I booked a two week holiday to Turkey with Directholidays.co.uk, the travel company is WingsAbroad. First the agent charge me £40 for paying by credit card when I actually paid (in full) by debit card and then last week (July 4th) I got a letter asking for an additional £11 per person (£77 in total) for fuel surcharges. I contacted ABTA and they confirmed that you need at least 30 days notice and we fly out on July 17th.
I contacted Directholidays and they also checked with ABTA and agreed that the charges were not valid.

Although Directholidays have been prompt in rectifying the mistakes I wonder how many people pay these 'mistakes' without checking.

My advice?, never trust anyone when it comes to money!!!!

I have just been sent a letter with an extra £90 charges too, flight is only 25 days away. Think I'll call up ABTA too. Thanks for this.
