Not satisfied with giving treats to existing customers with 6 months service..They are now handing out a choice of free bolt ons to new customers for 3 months.
Eg. 50 x net calls a month,free for 3 months.
Visit http://www.o2.co.uk/joiningtreats for details .Read the t%c carefully. You must have top up just once to get one of them.
Note this offer does not in fact start until the 29/10/05.

So let me be clear on this.
I dig out my free SIM that I ordered a while back. I top up by £5, which I believe is the minimum possible. I then get 50 cross-net minutes for 3 months, giving a total of 150 minutes.
I also have £5 credit on the phone, plus £2.50 for registering it, giving £7.50. X-net is usually 40p a minute, so that's another 18.75 minutes.
So I get 178.75 X-net minutes for £5, or roughly 3p a minute.
Is my maths dodgy?0 -
Yes it's free for 3 months how very generous of O2. But as usual the large print giveth and the small print taketh away:
"In month 4 customers will be charged the standard Bolt On charge, currently Messaging 100 - £6.99/mth, O2 Home 250 - £4.99/mth, Calls 50 - £7.99/month. If you do not wish to continue with your Bolt On beyond the 3 month promotion you must OPT OUT at least 72 hours before your Bolt On payment is due. "I ♥ MSE0 -

Yes exactly they are only free for three months as i mentioned in my op.You did not really expect them to give you say a 50 minute xnet 7.99 bolt on free for ever did you.
Bearing in mind that they already giving you 100 xnet minutes anytime for free with £10 top up on online sim,s. PF.0 -

No, not at all! Sorry, I think you missed my point, which was that I (or anyone) could (in true moneysaving fashion) use one of the free sims they've been dishing out to take advantage of this offer and make cheap calls over the three months, perhaps using a spare phone that happens to be lying around. I wasn't suggesting that people switch permanently (number and all) to O2 PAYG just to take advantage of this offer.
Sorry for the confusion!
But my maths is right? (For those 3 months)0 -
so, does this commence on 29th October?Nice to save.0

They are doing two different type of "treats" from what I can tell:-
- For those new to o2, you have Joining Treats as indicated in link by pricefighter.
- For those who have been with them for 6months+ (and subject to some other t&c), you have Treats.

It reads that way doesn't it, the only thing is like I say unless you are organised and remember to cancel in month 4 then you will have to fork out. Or you could just chuck the SIM away after 3 months...I ♥ MSE0 -
Well, being PAYG, presumably they can only charge you if you have sufficient credit? Which (in my scenario) you wouldn't, because you only had £7.50 (including the bonus) credit in the first place - calls 50 is £7.99. I was going with the chucking away scenario.ultrak3wl wrote:It reads that way doesn't it, the only thing is like I say unless you are organised and remember to cancel in month 4 then you will have to fork out. don't chuck the SIM away after 3 months
as pricefighter noted on another thread, you can get a minute's free roaming call and a free text message per week
... per SIM, so if you have 3 or 4 by next summer...
gonna have to do some fast talking for a minute though, but it should be enough to call home and get them to call your local SIM card, which you've got in another phone as well - or much better still the landline in your hotel or rented accommodation for 1 to 3 pence per minute for most countries
if you don't want the SIM for this use, maybe give it away ...0
